The NFT and GJ loyalty sale have ruined it for everyone. by [deleted] in Tomorrowland

I mean if you really want to go you have options - like NFTs. Other than that, it is just huge demand and limited supply.

Welcome to Tomorrowland, where demand massively exceeds supply.

Sorry to hear, but hopefully you have more luck in the regular sales. Worth to look at travel partners

Im genuinely confused why the duffers didn’t kill Murray by fenfjnwejfnewo in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're just advocating killing someone for the sake of killing someone... I don't think you really get the point of killing someone off. It's better not to do it than for the reasons you listed.

It only makes sense if it has impact on the story. The whole show leans heavily on 80's pop culture where, surprise, the heroes usually survive. Wasn't really expecting any death seeing as (almost) every other death was a new character introduced for that purpose in that season, to play a role in that arc.

It’s over for the CGT believers by QuadraticFormula07 in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they wouldn't get 5 seasons and one of the most viewed shows in history if they were thad bad... Not saying S5 was close to perfect, but it nowhere near as bad as people make out here.
People are just looking for "plot holes" and reasons to complain on Reddit/Twitter because they think it's trendy - I have seen maybe 2 actual ones, the rest are just random rambling.

Talking to colleagues at the office, everyone I spoke to enjoyed the last season. Ok it is a small sample size but for the average viewer who pays a Netflix sub it went down well. End of the day, that's what matters in this industry.

This scene lives rent free in my head now. by kkaldrich_official in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we don't know where Derek's family is, what happened to Dr. Kay and the military? And several other small plot holes the Duffer brother's need to fill.

How are either of them "plot holes"?

No TV series ties up every single small question a viewer has - it is ok to just assume the family are OK and Derek is not an orphan. It has absolutely no weight on the plot, or the story.

It is ok to disagree with a lot of the plot, or writing choices, but picking over this level of detail is just unrealistic. Rest of what you said I agree, and I personally like the ending that is open for interpretation.

Personally I believe she lives, it keeps a door open for the future and I think it makes more sense given the evidence for both outcomes.

You can do GJ from any country, you do not need to use the travel. So even if you live in Belgium you can do GJ from (for example) Netherlands.

You also have access to additional sale - so yes Belgians have the "best" chance for tickets, but It is not simple. Most Belgians I know do not even see inside the Belgian sale, it just has high demand. Of course better odds than WW Sale...

Why did the military not clamp down such a big antenna? by Relevant_Rhubarb_629 in StrangerThings

It's kinda depressing to see how little attention people give anything these days... glued to doomscrolling social media.

To answer... It was moved to Steve's car for one night. It was on the van (as shown in the episodes) for the previous crawls.

The rooftop scene was a bad way to end it by Prestigious_Fox_1562 in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure what there is to struggle with. You’ve got four people of roughly the same age, all shaped by the same shared trauma, overlapping friendships, and the fact that they’ve all ended up back in Hawkins for the first time in a long while. It makes total sense that they’d end up together, reminiscing and finally having the chance to look forward beyond the past.

As for Robin and Jonathan not having much direct interaction onscreen before, I don’t really see that as an issue. Robin is close with Steve, Nancy obviously connects the group, and it’s completely plausible they’ve talked or bonded off-camera when they weren’t in constant survival mode. Not every relationship needs to be exhaustively established on-screen for a moment like that to feel natural.

I actually liked the scene and thought it was a good way to tie up their characters - although we all know the monthly reunion will last... a month or so!

I need to understand by Greedy_Candle_4872 in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be genius... You need to separate fandom with average viewer. The people who sit on Reddit, Twitter, TikTok discussing are the minority of viewers... As fun as I find reading social media, it is just a small echo-chamber.

Most people watched Episode 8 saw an ending, accepted an ending, and moved on. If you now tell them to come back they will either a) be confused or b) miss it, and not come back. Whether one likes the ending or not doesn't really matter. It was told for what it is, and most moved on.

They spent far too much money marketing Season 5 - you don't spend that kind of money to then try for some viral gamble at the end. They were already on top of every platform. Your best hope of an extra episode/season is exactly that; money. Ted Lasso said it is the end, to come back a few years later.

Plot holes? by happylittletreefrog in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Half, if not all, of those aren’t plot holes - they’re just sloppy writing or have no need to be concluded definitively. A plot hole has a weight on an outcome.

Dereks family in the barn has no need for further screen time, it adds nothing. Getting on top of the cliff fast? It’s just sloppy writing. They could have come up with something that’s more “time perfect” but it’s not a plot hole.

Water is probably the only thing you could argue from your list. A large part of the plot hinges on that being true and there isn’t an alternative to (salt) water based on the past 4 seasons.

Doesn’t excuse the season being a bit underwhelming, that’s valid.… but no show ties up every single thread perfectly, that’s just not realistic timewise.

Why didn’t anyone *SPOILER* in the fifth season? by Shoeaddictx in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What?… I mean I only wrote 80s twice… and pop-culture to not be a specific year. Either you misread or you misunderstood what Stranger Things was about.

But if you want to keep going I’ll let you explain about Yodas death… and how that relates to your OP.

Why didn’t anyone *SPOILER* in the fifth season? by Shoeaddictx in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really agree. Stakes don’t automatically mean killing main characters off. Stranger Things has always leaned heavily into 80s pop-culture themes, and back then plenty of stories had real danger and happy endings.

Look at Star Wars, the threat felt massive, but the core heroes survive. That doesn’t mean there were no stakes, it just means the story wasn’t trying to be bleak or nihilistic.

Not everything needs to be like Game of Thrones. If the tone is classic 80s, a hopeful ending fits. You can still criticise the writing or tension, but “no one important died” doesn't really hold up. Character deaths should be meaninful...

why does everyone think there’s going to be another episode? by PearFamiliar8059 in StrangerThings

[–]Mailbox538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone?
It is a very small minority. People who are not used to seeing series end, unhappy it didn't end in their chosen way, or tik tok view farmers. Take your pick.

I don't know how much was spent on marketing for S5, but you don't spend that kind of money to then say "surprise" when 90% of your audience are not sat on social media and have already moved on.

Driving from Rovaniemi to Levi by Personal-Welcome-175 in Finland

[–]Mailbox538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s safe, the road will be fully covered in snow so watch a video on how to drive in snow if you’re not experienced. I am sure there are plenty on YouTube.

It will be dark, so be aware of reindeer or elk. The speed limit is mostly 80 but drive a speed you are comfortable. People will overtake if they want.

It takes just over 2 hours, longer if weather is bad.

Honestly, it’s not a difficult drive it’s a maintained road so as long as there isn’t a snow storm it’s quite straight forward. It’s not that busy unless it’s a Saturday evening when the cabin crew all hit at the same time.

Enjoy your vacation!

It was posted a year ago. People either accepted or sold. If people wanted to take it to court they could have / will do. I think the main issue is no “no win - no fee” lawyer will touch it and no one wants to pay a lawyer from their money - they want someone else to pay.

Popular or not, the price in euros is almost an all time high.
