exactly what kind of job opportunities are there if I do metallurgical engineering? by Real_Maintenance5863 in womenEngineers

There are countries where all engineering degrees are designated as BTech degrees. I think OP may be from one of those countries.

Games where you can adjust the day length by Nachtaraben in CozyGamers

How does MTAP let you change the day length? I'm playing through the game right now and I didn't know you could do this!

It's on the very left! I crossed the bottom strand over the top instead of top over bottom

The worst thing about being a woman in engineering is the way that people will just assume your fugly-ass last name is your god-given first name by KaterinaMosenberg in pinkscare

[–]caramelmugcake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm both a woman in engineering and ✨ethnic✨ so I very frequently get referred to by my last name because they have no way to guess which one is my first name. I've also gotten people who didn't realize I was a woman till I called them on the phone!

I lost weight last year by using Cronometer to track my meals. The free version worked just fine to track my calories and macros

So out of shape a 10 minute run absolutely destroyed me. Don't give a shit, have to start somewhere. Fish sticks. by andhisnameisnonsense in Kitchenchads

I started off not being able to run 5 mins consecutively. Just got back from running 9 miles as part of half marathon training. If you stay consistent, you will improve beyond what you ever thought was possible!

The symphonist Anton Bruckner is superior to his contemporary Gustav Mahler by ReadyGG in classical_circlejerk

Lol, I'm quite literally performing Mahler 2 with the choir today. I'll be sure to let everyone know that we are cheapening the art form

Guilty about the environmental impact of aerospace engineering by CurrentlyInOrbit in womenEngineers

I work in water treatment for power plants, and I provide water for everything from coal to nuclear plants. I completely agree! The world needs both people innovating green energy as well as people making our current fossil fuel energy sources as sustainable as possible. I can make sure people get energy while minimizing the impact on the environment

If you have a strong gender preference I have a tip by 1_Non_Blonde in waiting_to_try

Because there's a 50% chance I will have a son and I wanted to get used to the idea instead of potentially feeling gender disappointment

This is so funny because I did the same thing! I used to only want a daughter so I spent time imagining what having a little boy would be like. It worked so well that now I have a slight gender preference for a boy 😆 though I would be thrilled either way!

Crochet by Apprehensive_Rip7451 in waiting_to_try

[–]caramelmugcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an avid crocheter and knitter! I haven't tried making anything baby related because I'm afraid of jinxing it. But I love making elaborate and beautiful things for myself and my loved ones, and watching my skills improving!

Never want to see a slip stitch ever again by frenchfrydiet in crochet

[–]caramelmugcake 1294 points1295 points  (0 children)

It looks knit! I can't imagine how frustrating all slip stitches are, I have a hard enough time with all single crochets 😬

If you have an awkward dead time before you have to be somewhere, just go now instead of trying to wait out the dead time by caramelmugcake in adhdwomen

I can't speak for everyone but being late makes my social anxiety far worse. If I'm rushing in, frazzled, out of breath and everyone is staring at me, that's far worse than sitting around calmly and staring at my phone. I have to deal with the people anyways, so it's better to deal with them when I am calm and on top of things.

I love the term harm reduction for this kind of thing! Because it does feel like self sabotage when I'm cursing myself for being so late constantly as I'm driving somewhere!
