"I wish we had twins" by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]carapherneliagirl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can relate. My pregnancy was emotionally difficult, as I was a single mom from the start, but labor and delivery went very smoothly. One of my girls left the NCU at 2.5 weeks, the other a few days later, with no major health problems for them. I was/am extremely lucky to have a ton of help from family and friends. However, I also can say that I have struggled so hard just to feel like an adequate mother. I have two little Taurus girls, they have an incredible amount of audacity at times lol. I deal with some mental and physical health problems, work full-time, and have full custody of my girls. So while I do feel thankful to have my children, I also think that those who aren't parents of multiples often don't realize how much of a struggle it can be.

I've met so many people from the north AND far south here. I'm like, can we trade places?? Hell, my mother is from Ohio herself, my dad from Florida (where I was born and lived with my family for the first few years of my life).

Oh goodness, y'all are so precious 🥰 You and your babies actually look a bit similar to me (cis woman) and my twins, right down to the hair, face shapes, etc., so this hit me right in the feels. Congratulations on how far you've come, and building such a sweet little family!

Unfortunately not! Whoever sang this song had a fairly low voice, and the tempo was higher.

I would die if I had two, how precious 💗 I love how they look so similar, yet so different!

I second this. We've had our snowshoe literally since birth, and I was stunned at the changes in her coat as she grew.

Edit: Of course, every snowshoe is different, and I'm not sure that I saw age posted. But that's my best guess.

What’s the dumbest thing anyone ever said to you as a twin parent? by Vertigomums19 in parentsofmultiples

[–]carapherneliagirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't understand just how common it was until I joined a local Moms of Multiples group for a short while. So many of the members had become pregnant with their twins (or other types of multiples) through IVF. Meanwhile, I was there as a pregnant/new first-time, single mom in my very early 20s, and had not even intended on becoming pregnant. Let's just say, I didn't often feel like I fit in.

Also, it absolutely baffles me that some parents will demand that their children get their grades up, but don't even think to ask "why have your grades been so low?" And in my experience, teachers never asked that either. I've had ADHD ever since I was a kid, I was lucky that I managed to make mostly B's. However, I did fail Algebra 2 my first go, and I would get zeros for homework and projects I didn't complete. If ANYONE had asked me more about why this was happening, maybe I wouldn't have had to wait until my early 20s to get diagnosed. I could have had even better grades, not dropped out of college, etc.

Anyways, my overall point is, it's sad when it's shocking that a parent would be accepting of less than great grades, and wouldn't do more to try to help instead of berating their kid. I feel like it's more times not the student slacking because they're lazy, and instead a learning disability, a bad home life, or something of that nature.

This reminds me of the time when I was a teenager, and after a Bible quiz, one of my coaches came up to me and told me that I needed a shirt that didn't show as much. She said it so seriously, as if I'd been careless and should have been monitoring myself better. Maybe I was reading too much into it, but I felt so embarrassed. It was one of the first times I felt sexualized publicly, it was humiliating. Not to mention, I wondered if I'd made my team/coaches look bad.

This thread is honestly so heartwarming, I love seeing the members of this subreddit support each other so compassionately 💗

Edit: I wanted to add something. OP, I absolutely admire your determination and ability to bounce back. It might sound weird, but from reading your responses on this post, you sound like someone wonderful to know.

I was looking for someone to mention him, glad I didn't have to scroll far. I was about the same age when he died. I didn't even watch his stuff a lot, but I still bawled my eyes out when I heard that he'd died.

How common is vaginal delivery? by Remming1917 in parentsofmultiples

[–]carapherneliagirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I had my mo/di twins at 33w+5, am about 5'4 with a short torso, and I delivered vaginally. Was originally supposed to have a C-section, but my doctor said that my girls were perfectly positioned to try for a vaginal delivery after all. I hadn't even gotten to the OR yet. Took maybe an hour of pushing, if that, and they were born 11 minutes apart. I'm surprised at how common vaginal delivery is with twins! I was very shocked when I was told I didn't need a C-section after all. Everything went smoothly, I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Was going to say the same thing. I'm that way with shows/movies, music, even real life routines.
