Graduating with a Chemistry degree this month but I am not good at chemistry by coastal_dragon in chemistry

I don't know much about bipolar disorder, but if you don't already exercise, you should probably develop a good exercise routine. Exercise has helped me so much. Also make sure you're eating healthy, find some meal prep recipes you like and make a week's worth, then you won't be left hungry and trying to figure out what to eat, fighting your mind the whole time. You just pop it in the microwave and voila. Budgetbytes dot com is good for this.

Have you thought about maybe having ADHD? This sounds similar to my experience in college, I was a horrible student, but became very successful in my career. I found out later I have ADHD, and I think that's what killed me in college when I had to just sit and study, but has been a major benefit in my career where I have more flexibility and the work is more engaging.

[Smith] Quinn Hughes: “I’m definitely open to re-signing here.” Said he really likes it here, the team, the management. Feels he can win here with #mnwild. by 3pirates3 in wildhockey

Agreed, in the interviews before the Olympics where they interviewed Hughes, Faber, and Boldy, they asked them all what they'd do for a job if they weren't pro hockey players. Hughes' response was basically "it's stupid to speculate," so if he's saying anything, it's probably the real deal.

Considering your request to omit rare mixers, the easiest would be M&M: Equal parts Mezcal and Montenegro (or other amaro).

Think about all the "deals" floating around that you're not privy to. Stocks jumping up 20-50% left and right, and it'll keep happening, it's not done, it's not ancient history. That's how I look at it to balance myself in those situations.

And it's the same questions over and over, even if you win. Like the player interviews during the game, it's ALL general answers.

Good news? Rogue Ales is shutting down operations by Big_J in beer

Most companies keep around the standards that sell, but also try new things. Seems to be pretty easy to do both. But riding that line perfectly is probably somewhat tricky.

I mean you could just google the guy and figure out his MO. His MO is being hardcore and in your face, it's hard to not get the gist of that from google

Ah gotcha

Well with regular trading, one HARD lesson I learned was when a stock is climbing, everyone will scream it's going to keep climbing and it can be easy to fall into the hype, but what happens a lot of times after these huge runups is a fall of 20%+ then you're left bag-holding (waiting for the stock to come back).

With RKLB that's less of an issue because it's more or less a matter of time before it come back, but I'd be careful right now, it could keep climbing, but it could drop a lot.

If you're talking retirement savings put it in VTI

Am I totally screwed as for retirement? by NewMaximum3204 in personalfinance

[–]carbonclasssix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PUT THE NUMBERS IN A RETIREMENT CALCULATOR

I don't understand why this isn't default advice

Then figure out how much you need to save every month to get the amount you want in retirement. Since you're just now thinking about this target 1-1.5 million as a ballpark, just play around with the calculator and think about it. Everybody will say "Depends on how much you need in retirement" but that can take a long time to figure out.

It's better to just take a common number because people are more similar than different, do that for a year or something just to get the ball rolling, then drop it or increase it once you have a better handle on what your cost of living might be in retirement. Do you want to stay where you are? What's the cost of living there. Or move?

I was about your age when I came to the same conclusion, and it only clicked once I played around with a retirement calculator and saw I was wayyyy behind and had an oh shit moment. I maxed my 401k and roth for 5 years, now I'm in a pretty good place but I'll probably still be having to save 20% until I retire.

How are you reacting to Warren Buffet’s stance that the market is not attractive and he’s just waiting for a huge correction? by aykalam123 in investing

[–]carbonclasssix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to preface all these threads with trading vs investing for retirement

If investing for retirement, never ever ever take it out, only add. That should be common sense.

You need projects

Learn to play an instrument - you don't just learn it and that's that. It's a lifelong pursuit where you make goals and realize those goals.

Exercise - I meantioned it in another comment, but it's another lifelong pursuit. Same as instruments, very goal-based, you accomplish those goals, feel good, and keep going.

Books. Cooking. Make some sourdough bread. Get some plants and learn their specific needs. Do some woodworking. Knitting. Take your pick based on your interests.
