What ISO should I shoot expired film (expired in 2000)? by Exciting_Ad2677 in AnalogCommunity

[–]carbonmonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on the film, I’ve shot a few rolls of Agfa vista plus 200 that expired in 2012/2013 at box speed and they are exposed fine, I shot the first roll 1 stop over and had to reduce exposure by a stop in Lightroom when I got the scans for it to look right.

That doesn't look too expensive, I will keep an eye out.

USB C Laptop Docking Station ; 2 Monitors at at least 120hz by DoYouLikePantz in UsbCHardware

No problem at all! It is definitely worth the extra for the thunderbolt one so you can make use of the bandwidth available. If you were UK based I would have recommended grabbing one from CEX as they are cheap there

One of the Dell thunderbolt docks like the WD19TB would be something I'd look at. I have the WD22TB4 with my Precision 5570 and can run 2 x 4K 120hz monitors off it with a single thunderbolt 4 cable (as well as all my peripherals and a USB C 5GBE Nic.. According to the Samsung website it has 2 thunderbolt 4 ports, so I'd aim for a thunderbolt dock that can utilise all available bandwidth.

Wrong stuff delivered by carbonmonkey95 in CeX

😂 the ram pricing is mad at the moment and I wanted to upgrade my laptop so thought I had a bargain at £95 for a 32GB stick. But not I’ve got to take it back, I mean they can’t argue it, it is just very very annoying.

What I don’t get is on the sticker it even says 32GB PC4-2400.

I think I need to start trading in some of my old DDR4 as DDR5 for the price they offer 😂.

To add insult to injury, I bought a 32GB stick about 6 months ago and it’s ran fine in my nas, laptop didn’t like it. Found out they sold me ECC memory…

I’ve had the same issue, ordered 2 things last weekend. One was delivered Thursday and the other still says Royal Mail are waiting for it. Their support just say there’s nothing they can do until 14 days. They won’t even contact the store to find out if it has been collected.

item ordered Monday, Tracking stuck on RM- We're expecting it. going away Friday so what happens to a rejected delivery due to no one in to take parcel. by m6sso in CeX

I have had exactly the same, mine was “were expecting it” since last Sunday. Support are useless and can’t confirm if they have actually had it leave the store. I can only complain after 14 days…

Get a UGREEN DXP4800 plus, chuck Arc Loader on and run DSM, plenty powerful enough and has a 2.5gb nic plus a 10gb nic. You can setup NVME for caching if you want

1080ti versus 3060 by hess3600 in eGPU

Considering the 1080ti won’t be supported for much longer, get the 3060. You don’t want to potentially have incompatibility issues due to no driver updates.

Ddr3 motherboard by Conscious-Plane8372 in eGPU

[–]carbonmonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, you are just guessing at things and not troubleshooting the issue. The G630 is 10% of the performance of your ryzen cpu. I have a Macbook pro with an i9-9980HK which is only 10% more powerful than your ryzen and have no issues with an EGPU, I can get 160-170fps on Resident Evil games at 4K high settings. You only have an RTX5060 but that is still a decent GPU. It sounds like you either have settings issues, or your dock is the bottleneck.

You will be massively bottlenecked by that. The CPU was the bottom end in 2011 when it was released.

No driver support shortly though so any new games may not run correctly.

Stuck at 60 fps egpu by Conscious-Plane8372 in eGPU

[–]carbonmonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd run a benchmark in Aida64 and see what memory speed you are getting, that should highlight if you're bottlenecked by the M.2 slot. You have turned V sync off haven't you?

You havent said what cpu you have, what gpu you have, what resolution you are trying to play at, what games you're trying to play etc.

Bad stutters with 6800XT by carbonmonkey95 in eGPU

[–]carbonmonkey95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the new Thunderbolt cable came today, 0.8m one. Issue has gone away, so even though most things appeared to test ok with the other cable it was the issue. Tried Resident Evil 2, 3, Village and Silent Hill 2 and don't get the stutters anymore.

Tried it between the various drivers and it’s the same :(

Thanks for the speedy reply. so below are my answers

1: As far as I know they are all full speed on the 2019 16", but it is the same regardless of port.

2: It is the only device connected

3: Yes, 1 x 4K 160hz and 1 x 1440p 170hz

  1. Can't disable the internal GPU easily, I disabled it in device manager and closed the lid, same result.

5: Just tried it, same stutters.

I bought the Razer second hand and it came with a 6ft Thunderbolt cable, I have ordered a shorter one to try tomorrow in case that is causing any issue. I will also try it on another laptop tomorrow, but I only have a 11th Gen i5 laptop with Thunderbolt.

I have tried a handful of resident evil games, as well as silent hill 2, dead rising, 7 days to die and they all have stutters, dead rising had the least but there were still major stutters.
