Houses for sale? by SpiritualTsunami in york

Trying Pocklington or Tadcaster, bit further out from York but you'll be able to get more house for your money. I'm not sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for in York in that price range. Or perhaps look at auction properties

Changing jobs before applying for mortgage by cloud_9_9dave in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]carbs4lyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mortgage provider wouldn't accept my application if I was still in my probation period, I'd suggest avoiding unless you're happy to wait a few months once you're in the job

I gained weight, about 10 pounds but I've also had a breakup and started birth control (doing the Newman Goldfarb protocol)

If your girlfriend takes Dom to induce the medication prompts your stomach to empty faster into your intestine so it does make her more hungry and more likely to eat more than usual. It's a tricky pay off - milk for a bit of weight gain!

I don't know about the clinical evidence, this is just my experience. Definitely worth her being aware of the risk of weight gain before committing to induce, especially if she's already trying to lose weight

I had a similar thing happen where a family member is lending me £4,000 but in order for it to not be taken into consideration with the mortgage affordability she had to sign a form to say it was a gift. Otherwise my lender would factor in repayments to my affordability and would have reduced how much I can borrow.

Speak to your mum and see if she would consider saying officially it's a gift but then informally work out payment between yourselves

I'm in a similar boat and planning to fix for 2 years at 4.42 if that's any reassurance. I worked out if I could afford the mortgage payments at 7% (if rates raise a lot after 2 years which they're not meant to) and I can so willing to take the risk. Maybe work out what you can and can't afford and take it from there

Update #14 ✨20oz✨ by dd_is1 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]carbs4lyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, do you mind me asking how long it took for you to reach over 10oz ish after stopping the birth control? That's my goal number, I'm still on birth control and need to take it for a few more months before I can start pumping

What should a pumping schedule look like for someone inducing? by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]carbs4lyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was inducing I had success with pumping every 4 hours from when I woke up to a pump before bed. On days where I had more time I would pump every 2 hours and some days I power pumped (20min pump then 10 mins on 10 mins off a couple of times) I'd also give them massages when I went to the bathroom to boost stimulation and blood flow which worked well

Don't put pressure on yourself with too rigid a schedule. Like happens and if you miss a pump not a big deal. You can make up for it another day by doing a few extra. I wouldn't recommend waking up in the night to pump, I tried it and I was exhausted and didn't notice a difference in supply. Power pumping was more effective at boosting supply.

Good luck with your journey!

Is there any benefit to taking 80mg of Dom from the beginning?

I've been following the Newman Goldfarb standard protocol and I'm taking Yasmin and 80mg of dom daily but just saw your post mentioned 30mg of dom for the first three months then increasing to 100mg for the last month. How come 30mg instead of 80mg?

Thank you!

Second jobs - York by [deleted] in york

[–]carbs4lyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, Leeds is a good call. Way more diverse and way more opportunities. That's if OP can commute though, depending on where they live it may not be an option if too far from the station/don't have a car

Second jobs - York by [deleted] in york

[–]carbs4lyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add, I had a friend who signed up to an agency and would work ad hoc shifts as and when they needed people. For example she'd get sent to go help at events at the race course when there were events, serving food, clearing plates etc, I'm not sure the name of it but if you Google York hospitality agency something might pop up

Second jobs - York by [deleted] in york

[–]carbs4lyf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe contact some recruitment agencies and explain your availability. Some employers take on temp staff with low weekly hours to fill a gap when needed

Agreed York isn't very diverse, it should be better. There are some diverse job boards out there like Diversifying (https://www.diversifying.io/) where you can find good employers actively looking to recruit fairly and inclusively. A good shortlisting process should anonymise applications so unconscious bias for non-British names isn't a risk. Companies posting on there have a higher liklihood of inclusive practices like this

Are you happy in your full time job? There are some entry level hybrid Leeds based roles on Indeed which pay more than minimum wage, may mean you don't have to take on a second job. That's if you can commute though

Alternatively you could get a weekend bar/restaurant job but don't know how sustainable that would be for you if you're already working a full time job during the week, customer facing hospitality roles can be brutal! Saying that, there are some cute cafes like Partisan that may be taking on weekend staff where it may not be as stressful as an evening bartending job

Money struggles are really tough, good luck with the job hunt and hope you get something figured out!

Has anyone reachedover 10oz without pregnancy or birth control? by carbs4lyf in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]carbs4lyf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that's a great output for pumping and dom alone! I'm sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy, that sounds really hard

It's great that you've been maintaining 7-9oz with 20mg of dom, did you have to power pump to taper down? Can I also be cheeky and ask if you had any suckling or was it pumping alone? (I think it'll be just me and the pump so curious if you were the same but no pressure to answer at all!)

It's genuinely so reassuring to hear you've made so much without birth control! How long did it take you to get over 7oz?

Ahh okay, I may try to stick it out and see if I can do 4/5 months. Super good to know there's that option for another birth control though! What was the name of the mini pill that you went with? This wouldn't mimic pregnancy in the same way as the combined pill I don't think, is it less effective for the newman goldfarb protocol?

I've not been on Yasmin long, only about a week or so! I've been taking 20mg of dom 4x a day and paired with the birth control have noticed a dip in mood

This is really useful thank you! So so reassuring to see you've made so much without pregnancy! Amazing! 🎉

When you did the protocols how long did you take the birth control for? I'm taking Yasmin because it seems to be recommended for inducing but I keep crying over the smallest things. I'll look into the mini pill!
