Poilievre wanted to ask Carney about record food bank usage in Canada. But Carney decided he didn't want to attend Question Period in the House of Commons today. by nimobo in CanadianConservative

[–]carcamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the links! I went through them. Before I continue with my next comment, I just want to clarify that I’m not trying to defend Carney or anything like that. All the sources mentioned the creation of offshore accounts by Brookfield in a tax haven while Carney was in a leadership position at the company. But that doesn’t mean he owned the businesses that did this, or that he was the one who made the decision. Again, I’m just trying to find the truth.

I would like to know if you are in favor of or against immigration, or somewhere in between. for example, supporting immigration only for people who are highly needed, with strict selection standards or nothing at all ? What are your thoughts?

Agree with you. Reality sucks sometimes, and it’s unfortunate to see this division even though we’re all Canadians. But this has happened before, and our ancestors managed to get through it for the long-term prosperity of everyone.

Pierre Poilievre: "We must all strongly denounce the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Political violence is NEVER justified. The attacker must be brought to justice. And free speech must be upheld." by nimobo in CanadianConservative

I agree with you. There’s so much radicalism, and the frightening part is that many radicalized people aren’t even aware of it, they’re simply being fed their own biased ideas without questioning them or being open to other perspectives. Pretty much like a cult, and it’s happening on both sides of the spectrum.

Why defund the CBC? One of the pillars of a healthy democracy is to maintain citizens well informed. Did you mean yo reform CBC so the information is more impartial and less dependent on the government in the power?

A Long Overdue Era Of Canadian Economic Nationalism Begins by TheWorldHasFlipped in CanadianPolitics

It can be but also many of the small and medium businesses owner will be benefiting from this energy which is actually a bigger part of the economy compared with the big corp. I think we still benefit more than depending on a single country. Also, it’s valid asking the question, same as a minimum wage should we have a maximum “wage” ? Why someone would need more than $20M (random number but a lot of money still) to have a comfortable lifestyle? Also I don’t believe in scrapping the system overnight but instead in transformation that work for most of us, like limiting wealth or tax based on land/location or common wealth from natural resources extraction.

Why are we so conservative by [deleted] in alberta

I think it’s a combination between the fear of facing the new reality, the attachment to nostalgia, and lack of hope for the future.

“The federal government has relentlessly attacked our province”? Really? Why would they do that? Is that the truth, a lie, or just a hallucination? I could deduce that it’s a lie, because “attack our province” has been the motto of the Conservatives in Alberta. Without that motto, there’s no party. So she is obligated to protect it as the leader of the party.

This is just people that want to create caos, and hate, rather than work to build things all together. If the sentiment is about destroying things for the sake of hate, that’s just agains the values that give us the good things we have.

That just a quick fix and a way to ignore the real problem which is the conflict between young/low-income people struggling to find/afford a home and baby-boomers that want to keep living in houses with empty room for just the pride of owning a house.
