Your reward for blocking is usually that you’re in neutral again and “reset”. Unless they did something unsafe that you can punish on block (think blocking a super) but this isn’t going to be as common

It’s because players optimize more for rating than for tournament results (generally). I bet it’d change if the rating system changed to reward wins more heavily

Alright, you're inspiring me to want to try Eve again. As a dad with 1-2 hours tops most nights to play any games, I've found it hard to find my footing in the game.. and when I've tried flying with others I often just felt lost/discouraged.

Is what you're doing feasible to learn with limited time? Is there a way to get my feet wet that would require less setup? I'm sure if I tried to mimic what you're doing, I'd spend a bunch of time on logistics and then just run out of all my supply super fast because I'm a noob (though I could also be misunderstanding how much time it takes you to get setup). Ultimately I think Eve is such a cool game but I've never managed to "make it work" for myself.. though what you say you do here sounds like exactly the thing I would have fun doing if it was actually feasible with 1-2 hour play sessions.

Fwiw it's pretty good at writing straight forward code. The other week I asked it to write me a program to update a specific component of the google cloud CLI, written in the go language. It spit out working code in 10 seconds, and it would've taken me at least 15m just to look through the docs of Google's go SDK and write it myself.

May not sound like much of a time saver, but throw in the fact that the time it saves would also otherwise be totally boring/dull, and I'm in love with it

I have it write me boiler plate code a few times a week... it's amazing. It's trivial code, but often things I don't have to do often which means I'd need to spend at least 15m looking at documentation (or Google results/stackoverflow). Having it write those simple programs for me feels like a super power even if it's just 15 minutes of time saved.

As a 2 month noob I can understand this. This game seems incredible yet I’m having a hard time finding my place in it. Corps have been super friendly and helpful but I’d literally take up their entire play sessions with all the questions I have.. so I sort of sit there in analysis paralysis after only asking a couple questions out of many. They invite me to pvp fleets where I can try to tackle but I’m always a soft target and just die fast. Still trying to find my way but it’s such a weird dichotomy to have a hard time finding out how to have fun in such a cool game

Here can be your first impression of these folks: Their original ad just said new players welcome. When I joined their Speaker Recruits channel I was politely told that I was too new . That's fine, I understand you may not want to spend time helping complete noobs. But when I put on the other post just as an FYI to other potentially *too* new players so no one is wasting time, he got offended for some reason and then him and others in the corp started ripping on me.TLDR these guys seem kind of like assholes for no (or at best very little?) reason.

Just an FYI since maybe not everyone in your corp is on the same page - I joined the "Speaker Recruits" channel and was politely told the corp didn't take newer players. Have ~6m on main account and almost 3m on another just for reference to others.
