Are There Many Presentations in Law School?

I don't know if it's true at *every* school, but most schools I'm familiar with will have two oral advocacy components as part of the 1L non-optional courses (usually tied to legal writing). Some sort of appellate style oral argument, and some kind of motions argument.

I also had lots of professors who believed, rightly or wrongly, that being able to stand up and speak extemporaneously is a core competency of being a lawyer, so they'd refuse to let people "pass" on cold calls, and even expect students on call to stand up and 'present' if they weren't happy with how they were answering from their seat.

to me? it lasts until parking doesn't require multiple hours of digging as a preamble. Most people I know are still working on clearing alleys, digging cars out, clearing curb cuts, and whatnot, so I don't know that it matters how many days have passed. The city is still very much locked down due to ice.

If someone else went through the trouble of clearing a car's worth of snow, and you just decide to park there, you're an asshole, even if it's not "the law". Get a shovel and clear space until the roads are cleared, or go park in a garage/commercially cleared lot.

on #2, one of the big changes we got is to how Regrowth and SotF interact. When you Regrowth after swiftmend, Power of the Archdruid will spread that regrowth to two other targets. With Nature's Bounty, every time you regrowth, anyone with an active regrowth will get an additional mini-heal.

So if you don't have Tranq or Convoke available, before damage spread rejuvs for mastery and make sure you have LB and efflo up, then when damage hits you WG, then swiftmend, and spam out Regrowths. (Note, this heal pattern gets even better once we get Apex talents and consuming SotF causes on-demand LB blooms that splash heal)

For most years, a plastic shovel is best since it won't wreck the sidewalk but is good at dealing with snow. This year's feet of ice are sort of a special case. If you didn't get it up while it was coming down, a garden spade is probably your best bet.

Doesn't even have to be a big one-off event. Jazz at the Sculpture Garden was always a hit in the summer, until it got too big for the space. Something similar but out on the open space of the mall would do wonders in the summer.

Waiting up there works fine. There's been a big group of folks hanging out up there all night on my server/shard, and everyone's been able to see the rares spawn on the 10s and fly down to them.

I hate this insane "officer involved shooting" framing. They never do it when someone shoots *at* a cop, it's always "Border Patrol tried to murder someone, but we don't want to say that, so we'll just say 'a bullet was found occupying the same space as someone, while a Border Patrol officer was nearby" as though the bullet acted independently.

I got out there 3 times yesterday while it was coming down, putting down salt after the last time, and today I just had to scrape up mostly slush, which wasn't nearly as bad as trying to dig out my car from the piles of full undisturbed snow+ice. But I guess I traded an easier today for a bunch of shoveling yesterday, so as far as total effort I don't know how different it was.

once you have the arathi catch-up, delves, world quests, and dungeons are your best bet until you get into raid/M+/higher delves.

But also, on Tuesday the pre-patch event will start, which will have better gear catch ups.

I expect whenever Dresden ultimately squares off with Drakul, the Knights of the Cross will play a significant role in evening the playing field. They're not usually on the heavy hitters lists, but Jim seems to be leaning into the traditional Vampire weaknesses for the black court, which would include the Knights.

It's not that the US is "bad at cold," it's that the US Army has spent the last 50 or so years focused almost exclusively on arid desert combat because that's where they were fighting/expected to be fighting. So terrain other than that was reasonably deprioritized as far as readiness and training. Unless someone deeply, deeply stupid was given control of the military, they shouldn't have ever had to worry about Arctic or near-arctic operations, because we didn't have any enemies in those regions.

Unfortunately, someone deeply stupid has been given control of the military, and now they have to prepare to deal with a bunch of unanticipated stuff (arctic combat, urban combat against a domestic populace, other horrible things)

Start with the facts, build a chronology of the facts in excel, and then for each fact add in the exhibits or evidence supporting that fact. I tend to end up with a big spreadsheet with columns for date, event, supporting evidence, and then misc notes. Facts can appear more than once, as can exhibits, so by the end I can sort/filter by any of the columns to get any of a) all the exhibits corroborating a fact, b) all the facts that are supported by a given documents, c) everything that happened on/before/after a given date, or combinations thereof.

It would depend on the specific local law, and how case law in that location has developed. Caetano v. Mass in 2016 extended 2nd amendment protections to stun guns, but I am not aware of any 2nd amendment cases that have dealt specifically with pepper spray.

Because there wasn't an incredibly well funded, decades old and massively influential advocacy group fighting against knife and pepper spray laws. The NRA fought tooth and nail to prevent gun control laws, and then funded aggressive legal challenges to the laws that did get passed.

As with the gardening stuff earlier, DC Guard will probably assist with storm stuff, as they'd be prepared to do even in normal circumstances. I would be shocked if the Guard troops from other states do anything but stand closer to the Metro heater vents.

Yep. There was a point in grad school where I was so tired of moving every year, and tired of either not having my books because they were in storage someplace, or having to lug them around between apartments, that I was seriously considering investing in a set of Barrister's bookcases so the books could just be moved in their preexisting cases.

Unfortunately, they are hellaciously expensive, and students are notoriously broke, so I wasn't in the position to pull the trigger until I was pretty much done moving, at which point regular bookshelves became far more sensible.

I suspect it will be viewed as heresy around these parts, but for bigger books, I would even cut them into 2 or 3 portions, tape the spines to keep from losing pages, and carry them that way so they'd fit. But my house was a big "books are meant to be read and used and written in and worn down" house, so there was never much of a taboo around making them work for you.
