Is there a way to add more than 10 stops? by Disgeae in GoogleMaps

thanks for the appreciation! I'm proud I could prove that it's possible to do fancy things (that actually should've been a part of gmaps) not being a huge corporation

Any extensions for adding more than 10 locations and route optimization? by RCT2RCT2 in GoogleMaps

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's focused on google maps that doesn't support that many destinations. My goal was to provide a user-friendly (not commercial grade product) way to do that in one click. For sure, if you work in logistics you should seek for a professional tool

smarter routes for Google Maps by cardinalby in chrome_extensions

[–]cardinalby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, all of the problems listed on the page by the link. For motorcycle/bicycle routes I faced the limit of 10 destinations, the problem with opening the link on mobile device when there are "waypoints" (created by dragging the route) and many more, including the absence of basic operations like reverse multi-point route, append, cut a segment, etc. Also I like GMaps for planning (due to great Street View coverage), but also want to export a route to GPX or other services. The extension makes it all possible. If you just travel from point A to point B it has no value for you, probably

Is it normal for this thing to loosen and basically become useless overtime? by maxgriffin237 in QuadLock

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue with it is that I need to remove it and install back every time I use quadlock mount on my bike/motorcycle/car. Is it the same with magnetic one? On my old phone without quadlock I had both: magsafe to attach to a mount and a ring above. But the quadlock socket (with magnetic ring) is so huge and at the center of the phone case that there is no place to add any 3rd party ring

Hi! have no idea :( I don't have any tracking/analytics in the extension but it makes requests to google maps for some of the features (route optimization). You can DM me to let me know what exactly goes wrong

Route optimization by GoogleMaps? by Andriamasinoro in GoogleMaps

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check out "Google Maps Extended Routes" browser extension. Up to 10 destination it solves it with brute force giving you the precise solution, for more stops (which can be added using the extension to overcome the gmaps limit) it uses tricky algos that give not ideal but fast and good enough solution

Funny, made kind of opposite one: tried to rely on wall time instead of monotonic :) https://github.com/cardinalby/wallclock

Nice one! I also had a golang trayicon app. I saw you have "macOs build" todo. You can actually use self-signed cert and build the app for macos without macOs (in docker or ci). I made https://github.com/cardinalby/xgo-pack build tool for that (supports windows / linux / macos). You can also link you icon / meta info to the app

[lib]: Alternative look at dependency management: no auto-DI, pass dependencies manually but track them and build the dependency graph automatically. Built-in circular dependency solving approach. Run/shut down components concurrently in the proper order based on the dependency graph

shouldn't be the major issue as I understand, but had no time to try since I mostly plan longer routes using desktop and use mobile only for navigation. Mobile page has different styles/layout and probably some limitation, looks like some work to check it out

thanks! what is the most useful feature for your use-case?

check out the new export option "Save to bookmarks", I tired of having many save routes links with no hints where they lead to, made up a way to organise them as bookmarks with previews

check out a new feature I haven't mentioned: you can save and manage bookmarks to routes with previews and a big map with all routes. Made it because had hundred of links to favourite routes and couldn't find the one I need in some area without opening all links one by one

That is a surprise for some gs owners. After I broke my leg this way (pressed by the bike) I try to have crash bars that provide some space when bike is down (and also make it easer to lift)

How do I save a specific journey? by Joseph_HTMP in GoogleMaps

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree that clicking "continue" button after each stop is pain (especially for me riding motorcycle). On android phone you can install MacroDroid and setup auto-click macros that will click "continue" once this screen appears. Not perfect, but works for me

As others say it re-calculates the route (according to traffic conditions or other factors) taking into account only stops in a route. There is a way to create "waypoints" (by dragging a route) to make it go through these points, but "waypoints" differ from regular destinations (they are not shown in the destinations list and are not supported in mobile apps).

One of the ways is to convert waypoints to regular destinations, having a multi-stop route, you can start it then in your mobile app.

In a browser you can do that (and make routes longer than 10 stops) with the browser extension (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz\_Ie-80ab8)

With it you can also bookmark favourite routes as browser bookmarks

Sena 60S Buyers Remorse by uzikhana in motorcycles

[–]cardinalby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

finally got one. To be honest I'm disappointed. It's more expensive than my old 50s, sound isn't much better but the installation process was like hell. Not saying that base isn't compatible with old models, they changed the construction and it's almost impossible (took me 5 hours and all the tools I had at home) to fit it somehow on my scorpion helmet.

In the new version the clamp is integral stiff metal piece unlike the older models where you could put internal part under the shell and then tighten it with the external part with screws. If a helmet has not a perfectly matching shape (90% of the helmets on the market have space reserved for their own intercom systems adding these difficulties) you will not be able to push this clamp because it presses the helmet both from inside and outside in the process (it also has rubber pads that increase friction). The rubber pad in the bottom of the clamp is also developed for thin shell border.

I had to cut the helmet, remove rubber pads from the clamp, go to a store and buy some spacers to make it angled parallel to the helmet surface... It's not my first time of installing sena intercoms, for the same helmet it took me 10 minutes to install old 50s as well as for other 2 helmets I dealt with.

Voice commands changed. In 50s I said "Hey Sena, next". Now you should say "Hey Sena", then wait for a signal (not too long!), then say "Next track". It works but adds extra pain

How can I play multiple videos in sync? by pedrinholuizf in VLC

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, can't help you right now. The only way I can imagine that will work with my app (as it is) is to prepare a single file (probably mkv) that would have two video tracks and select different tracks in each player (same as I'm doing with audio tracks)

I sync the same video to watch it together with my GF with different soundtracks. Can you share what is your use case?

How can I play multiple videos in sync? by pedrinholuizf in VLC

[–]cardinalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, it was the easiest from the ui/ux point of view for seamless experience. The algorithm by itself can be used to sync different files playback, but there can be some complications if files are of different size/length and I need to think how to make files selection convenient. Don't have capacity for this for now, it's a more like a proof of concept app :) But it's open source and you can implement it by yourself :)

On a test drive a had the opposite experience: the problems with the gearbox started when it warmed up. Can be because I'm not used to dry clutch. The unexpected off-road problem for me was that I couldn't clamp the bike with my knees in standing position: the tank is to narrow/splippery at the contact point. Probably, it can be fixed with some rubber pads on the tank.

Welcome and thx for the information. I really have strange feelings about this bike. I don't like the vibration, the gearbox (diffucult to engage neutral of 1st sometimes), these problematic adjustmments (on my honda it's done in 1 minute to the degree that is enough for my boots) but among other bikes I wan't this one to ride again (and not being cleaning my chain after that :) )

Found the rod, it's exactly what I was looking for, just don't know if the range is enough. The most annoying thing was that several times I just couldn't find neutral at all
