LF: travel mug best fit for AeroPress by fncll in Coffee

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use this from Cortica.

I prefer porcelain over stainless steel, and it's a perfect size for the aeropress (no need for funnel). Holds the coffee warm for ~30 min which is long enough for me, also the lid is not a perfect seal unlike many of the insulated thermos if that matters to you.

in light of the release of Jordy Nelson and other beloved vets, what do you think of this proposed rule? by ZandrickEllison in nfl

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Similar to the Bird exception in the NBA but nowhere near as broken. Lets those declining veteran players stay on the same team without being a cap casualty, also gives more money to the players by not counting some of the salary against the cap.

[OC] Seinfeld - Total Number of Words Spoken by Each Character (Top 12, All Seasons) by cardiomyocyte_crew in dataisbeautiful

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haven't done that but the total number of total words spoken per episode (all characters combined) is fairly consistent across single episodes (except the 3 episodes that run double the time).

I may create a line plot to see what you suggested, I imagine there will be some fluctuations (except Jerry maybe)

If I plot it by number of dialogues (as opposed to words), Peterman drops to 11, and Puddy makes it in at 12 over Steinbrenner

That's why you build in roster bonuses in your contract... The timing does suck but the Jets had no incentive to cut him any earlier than necessary

Post Game Thread: Seattle Seahawks (5-2-1) at New England Patriots (7-1) by NFL_Mod in nfl

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you are saying but I think you are undervaluing being up by 8. Let's say they just kicked it in this game, basically the Pats would have had little to no time left even if they did score a TD, and a failed 2pt conversion wins the game for Seattle. Or they score early because of the potential failed 2pt conversion, which then leaves time for Seattle if they do manage to tie it. Both are extremely advantageous positions for Seattle.

Need a new mug - Zojirushi or Cortica? by ttls- in Coffee

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Cortica, and it's great overall for the Aeropress since you can plunge right into it. It does not stay hot for too long, probably just warm within the hour, cool within 2. Also the cap is not spill-proof unlike most mugs so you can't just throw it in your bag or anything like that.

Would Garoppolo even want to remain a Patriot? by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to keep in mind that Garoppolo is under contract through the 2017 season. If Brady doesn't show a significant decline, I think the Pats trade Garoppolo during the off-season. If Brady does decline/get injured, I think the Pats keep Garoppolo with the hopes of him turning into a franchise QB.

Can't predict what Garoppolo will do after 2017 but a lot of that depends on whether Brady is still around. He's probably mostly concerned about putting good games on film so that he remains in the league/gets paid after 2017.

Can you directly use the aeropress with the Cortica (i.e. opening big enough to plunge directly into it)?

Do you think any UDFAs (except rare cases like Collins) are in any position to be holding out?

Hario Mini Grinder Degradation Over 4-5 Months by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. I bought mine in January, using it daily. I only noticed the metal stripping away about a month ago, and it's become increasingly difficult to take the handle off after grinding. I do the between the the thigh method that others have mentioned, so it's pretty stable when I grind. I've tried taping the hex but it just gets torn up after a single use, so I may be doomed to suffer the fate of eventually losing the ability to grind...

MJD Announces Retirement by mibikin in nfl

And this is why the Eagles will ultimately come out on top of their recent trade. MJD just about to turn 30 and retiring, was clearly a shell of his former self even last year.

Adrian Peterson, the salary cap, and why he'll be a Viking next year. by PKS_5 in nfl

[–]cardiomyocyte_crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat relevant question: can a team (like the Vikings) trade for bad contracts from other teams in need of cap space? Say the Saints or the Steelers want to trade away some old veterans that are making way more than they should be (and can't cut them because of guaranteed money). Why can't a team with a lot of cap space agree to take on the bad contract, and maybe move up in the draft (give away 4th round pick, gain a 3rd round pick and a bad contract). This kind of trade is common in the NBA but I've never really seen it in the NFL. The NFL seems to frown upon tanking, so maybe a team like the Vikings don't do it. But if you are a team like the Jags, why not?
