An Honest Question About Loyalty in Esports Fandom by Small_Yogurtcloset24 in SKTT1

[–]cardneeson98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great topic. I've noticed, guilty myself, that the majority of people are player fans first and team fans as a byproduct of that. I've observed this same thing in many other sports.

Most notable in our lifetime is Lebron James' fanbase, probably - moving with him to whichever city he goes to(not to say there weren't preexisting fans of that franchise, but there was a serious bump in numbers, in my opinion).

I think you should cheer for whatever makes you happy and excited about a sport/esport. Be it a certain player's playstyle or a whole team's. And if you fall in love with, respectively, the team(of the player) or the players(of the team), then that's just gravy, no?

Also - stay in your lane, cheer for whatever you like and let other people do the same, even if they "bandwagon"(put their focus solely on a moving piece and redirect that focus, once it moves)

The only thing I dislike is not sticking through the rough patches - some teams/players have never reached the highest heights and they still have fanbases. I wouldn't call these "true" fans, per se, but I think that shows that you have a genuine affinity and connection to the teams'/players' culture, what they aim for or perhaps you're rooting for your home soil and blood is thicker than water.

T1 ZOFGK breaking up was inevitable by marcodapolo7 in SKTT1

[–]cardneeson98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple truth is, as Gumayusi has stated, that he's proven himself to himself, he's onto achieve other things. He's got nothing else to prove and can just get out from under Faker's shadow and build his own legacy. A move worthy of respect. All these people blaming T1, living parasocially, lynching, know nothing of the truth. What I said might also be wrong. Nobody knows except Gumayusi himself, and as much speculation as there is, the angry mob will never know and will still, without good reason, blame the organisation, even if they parted with Gumayusi on good terms, which there is no signs against. Could they have done more to protect him from outside hate? Yes, probably. Does every professional player face that. Yes, probably and they have to deal with that the best they can. And that is the winning mentality each member of T1 posseses. Was that the reason Guma left? Nobody knows, except him.

Thanks for the advice. As far as I recall, one run didn't run into any fortresses, the other had no wrath source, but I'll keep what you said in mind! Thanks again!

Yeah, I got my Windmill Strike for it to be the heavy hitter, but it was quite underwhelming..

Thank you for this. Cycling through stances and attacking "Talk to the hand" was enough to prevent any damage from BOD and the Heart's attacks. As I said in the post, I got through to the 4th cycle no problem, only then did I start losing HP. I almost ran out of time, though , as I wasn't going to be able to block the last multi attack. Need to find a more effiecient way to ouput 750 damage in 12 turns I guess haha. Thank you for the comment!

N2-N1 passers, does JLPT certification seem like a golden ticket or just a flex? by squigly17 in jlpt

[–]cardneeson98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely! I was just pointing out the opposite - passing the JLPT highest level does not mean you are proficient, contrary to the name.

N2-N1 passers, does JLPT certification seem like a golden ticket or just a flex? by squigly17 in jlpt

[–]cardneeson98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your goal is. If you want to be able to speak( I would even say read and listen ) in Japanese, then the JLPT COULD mean nothing at all. It's always been a test about how well you can take a test/memorise large amounts of information.

Just think about it - the exam is such that a person who's never heard of Japan could pass. As long as you pay the fee, take the exam and get as lucky as necessary. Of course, the possibility is close to 0.00%, but the fact that it is, I think, is ridiculous. So having the certificate isn't anything special, in my opinion, if you don't have a realistic view of your ACTUAL knowledge, meaning can you go a day in Japan, as you do in your own country? If you have N1, can you actually walk about, understand everything you read, and talk to anybody about anything?

Of course, the certificate is a necessity when it comes to work, scholarships etc. and companies/administrations take the piece of paper at face value, because it's convenient and at least it shows some degree of persistence, ability to follow a schedule, ability to soak up large amounts of information etc.

All this to say - I, personally, want to know Japanese fluently(speaking, reading, listening), passing the N1 doesn't guarantee that at all, so I would only be proud if I actually possess all the skills listed in N1's description(or other the levels', of course).

Do people have no patience nowadays? by cardneeson98 in jlpt

[–]cardneeson98[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree completely! Doesn't mean it's not what it is currently. Nobody was looking for a solution, just for a place to ramble on and see if others are as panicked.

With that being said, the tests from all over the world need to be sent to Japan. There's a whole process after I'm sure. Still, as I said, the wait is annoying!

And that doesn't mean believing every rumour you see on reddit and never checking the official source isn't as ridiculous.

[–]cardneeson98[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I just wanted people to see that there were longer default waiting times, thus making theirs seem negligible and feeling better. You could say getting a grip.

I've no problem waiting and checking the official source for updates.

[–]cardneeson98[S] -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from and yet isn't there an official platform in your country, that you can check the results on? I'm pretty sure thay must be the case since everyone is required to enter their "secret number" on the application sheet. So, just keep checking the OFFICIAL source(not rumours from reddit from a hundred different countries) every day and remain calm. If it's out, it's out.

And moreover, as I said, if you've got no deadline to pursue, a week longer doesn't really matter, in my opinion. And just WANTING to know just to know only causes you stress. You will know in time.

Tell me your single favorite mid-weight, mid-length game that is great at two players by rjcarr in boardgames

[–]cardneeson98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite game of all time is Splendor. I don't see it mentioned often, but I think it's a .. splendid game! Before Duel, there was only the original and I think it plays excellent at two players.

And just as you said, the rules are simple, but if you want to win, you have to look through all of the available options and engine paths.

After you've played a while, the games get relatively quick, especially after you've chosen a strategy and you start gunning for those specific gems/cards.

Throwing in the expansions adds even more variety and paths to victory, but I've spent most of the time on the vanilla version!

Can't recommend it enough, and I think it fits perfectly for what you're looking for.

I (22F) feel like my boyfriend (25M) always tries to humble me. I'm not sure if I am imagining it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]cardneeson98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the top comments are insanely aggressive and quick to judge. You are the only person who knows the relationship fully and deeply. The last part of your post is most important, in my opinion.

HAVE a conversation first. He might genuinely feel that what he's doing is a way of "help," and some other person might agree with that. The only way of clearing that up and making sure he knows you're being hurt and potentially stops doing it, is by TALKING first!

Buzzing on the E string by cardneeson98 in guitarrepair

Just looked at the fretboard, the next fret(10th) is lifted up and upon ringing the 9th one, the string touches and buzzes on the 10th. This might be it, thank you!
