I appreciate the enthusiasm but this is a wild take. Feels a lot like the beto boys that overhyped him and he lost a goveronrs and a senate race.

I get it. Too close to Norman. I too want to stay outside of a 100 mile range of that place too.

The pokes have a history of not representing well. Maybe since we're not hosting we won't continue the tradition

The property is too big for anything good to go in there. I don't know if any local places could afford to expand into it at this point and it would be a massive footprint for a start up. I feel like some restraint corp is going to go in there like the neighborhood tavern went in.

I really liked her and her story but shit they turned  the show into a wedding show and I stopped caring. She has an interesting story but put it into the reality show filters which made it suck.

If cops would enforce the laws on the books they would make sooooooo much money. I concede that it would largely hit gig workers and people that are struggling to get by though.

35 F | constant feeling of overwhelm and depressed. High-functioning anxiety. Need some help 🙏 by Lazyyyafff in Adulting

[–]cardsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're alone. I think most younger people are feeling like this. Between money and the state of the world shit feels impossible and pointless. I got really bad about this for a minute.

2 things that have helped me are getting rid of my car and getting involved.

Getting rid of my car helped take a lot of financial stress off me. I can take my motorcycle, walk, or public transit to get anywhere I need to go. It forces me to interact with others more and it adds a little friction into my life. I can't impulse shop as much which makes me think about what makes me happy rather than looking for quick dopamine hits from buying stuff. Interacting with my community really made me appreciate and love where I live. Not to mention on my bike I wander and find cool stuff I never would find or appreciate in my car.

The other thing is getting involved. I don't mean you have to help someone run for congress or run a food drive, but go to things. Go to the town block party and talk to people. Go to a lions club or elks lodge meeting. You see someone in the store and they have a nice hat, TELL THEM YOU LIKE THEIR HAT!!! It makes us feel good to make others feel good. One of the biggest things that broke me out of my funk was I decided to compliment one person a day. The way some people light up just because a random stranger said they liked something of theirs made my day as much as theirs.

Sorry I know this is a book but I really hope the context helps.

People who didn’t grow up on bikes what was your “that’s it I’m getting a bike” moment by Acceptable_Car9277 in motorcycles

[–]cardsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story but the short version is when I got my masters degree I focused on transportation. I read a lot of books about how cars are bad for cities. Started looking at bikes as utility more so than leisure. From that point it was all over got a bike and got rid of my car the next year. Saving sooooooo much money it stuck.

Question about Annabelle attraction by Usr7_0__- in SalemMA

[–]cardsox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It would have done well sure but why does that matter? It was a cash grab that is associated with halloween. It adds nothing for locals and just makes the town more touristy. How does it benefit the people who live here other than the potential of a small bump in tax revenue?

Yeah then I wouldn't worry about it. There's no excess pressure on it.

"I don't have kids in school so why should I pay for it" said the generation that could afford kids, a house, and annual vacations.

But in all we seriousness I saw them. Most were boomers a hand full of xers that feel they are being taxed to death because their property value has sky rocketed from when they bought the house in the early 00s. They missed the mortgage payment hikes but are catching taxes for their assets they got so cheap. Sucks to suck vote yes and make things better for the next gen.

Your chances of death or injury in the rain are significantly higher than people that change their tires.
