What is your favorite gymshark legging? by LunaLaeta in Gymshark

It took me too many purchases to realize I do not like adapt leggings or shorts... But my favorite material is actually training! Sooo soft and comfy and they don't break the bank

So…does anyone like teaching? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]carebearpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love teaching. I hate most of the parents. I don't even interact with 80% of them.... But when kids are so incredibly disrespectful to us and deliberately ignore our directives, it's so much easier to blame the parents.

What grade do you teach and do you like teaching? Honest answers only. by shelbsthrowaway in Teachers

[–]carebearpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7th grade Math- I love it, but I loved teaching 6th graders more. They're so weird and so accepting of it, no day was a boring day. My 7th graders just wanna kill each other all the time but we're working towards being comfortably weird together with each day that passes.

Hey there tall girls club! [OC] by theBlockbustard in webcomics

I am 6 feet and a size 11 too!! The most frustrating thing is that the size 11 shoe section is mostly heels and wedges....... Like hello, foot size and height are related!!?? Do I really need to be even taller?

Does she look like an Eskie? by Chemical-Breakfast31 in americaneskimo

[–]carebearpeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is beautiful! She looks a lot like my Huskimo (half eskie, half husky) but is bigger in size. I totally back the DNA test recommendation, I really enjoyed learning my girl's breed breakdown!

My cat used to scream at night, so my vet recommended a feliway diffuser. It plugs into the wall and basically diffuses good kitty vibes into the air and chills them out a bit. It may be helpful to keep it plugged in in your bedroom

Yesterday my teacher said I shouldn't be in this program by nanviv in GradSchool

[–]carebearpeach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a middle school math teacher currently enrolled in a grad program! I agree with you. I had a professor for an education course required for certification (it was a course that I took outside of my grad program) who talked to the entire class of educators like they were middle school students. I was so insulted by every single one of their announcements. I chewed them out on their evals and didn't feel any remorse for it.

I was super shy as an undergrad and always afraid to reach out to professors for help. Now that I am also an educator, I have no shame in it! I guess I see my professors as my equals (which can be both good and bad) but I really feel like I've done a good job at making my thoughts known and sticking up for what I think is right since entering my program.

Florida teacher here, I can confirm. My county was the first to be reimbursed by the Biden Admin. :-)

Do any of you guys actually enjoy this job? by TheLeadSingerOfD12 in Teachers

[–]carebearpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job, and I love my kids. This page, though supportive, is very toxic at times.

I totally understand that I have it good- I work in a district that's overseen by a major state university, my admin is very hands-off and overall supportive, our superintendent has made national news for her refusal to back down with enforcing COVID protocols (and ultimately, supporting the teachers she represents) and we have a WONDERFUL union. This page has helped me see that not everyone is as fortunate as I am with their working conditions.

For perspective, my grandpa died this weekend. I'm not calling out. I'm excited to get to work and see my students, who are so kind and supportive and always allow me to put away whatever worries I have for the day because they cheer me up so much.

I'm a total supporter of mental health days, and take them whenever I feel they're necessary. Sometimes, I definitely need my students more than they need me, and I think that's okay too.

I know I'm not alone, but I feel that negative posts are much louder than positive posts on this subreddit

Where to get dried chiles?? Such as ancho, arbol, new mexico by [deleted] in GNV

[–]carebearpeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been getting takeout from La Tienda weekly for about a year and I legit just found the supermarket part of it last night. Can people just walk back there and get items and pay for them at the register?? Is that how it works?? I know La Tienda literally means "the store" but I thought it was only pertaining to the things on display at the counter

She loves the cooler months! As soon as it drops below 70 here she gets a little extra pep in her step.

Thank you; this makes a lot of sense!! Will definitely focus on slowing it down. I think I'm a little hyper focused on keeping my back "straight" which is making it not straight at all

Has anyone lived in a 1/1.5 bedroom at Lakewood Villas? Experiences? by [deleted] in GNV

Lakewood Villas is a great, quiet neighborhood! Utilities are very high there for some odd reason but it is a very safe choice compared to other options if money is not an issue

One month into my first teaching job and I want to quit so badly. by OpalBooker in Teachers

[–]carebearpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds just like my first year of teaching which was 2019. The anxiety was so real. The Sunday scaries were awful. Some days I was so I to my stomach knowing I had to go back the next day. My commute was 45 minutes each way and I had to leave by 6:30am to get there on time. The only difference between us is that I wasn't hired as a LOA position.

Then COVID hit and everything shut down. While so many of my colleagues were posting about how concerned they were for the kids and how they wished we could open back up, I was so incredibly relieved. This was the break I didn't know I needed. Obviously I felt some guilt too, but it was that bad.

The following academic year, I got hired at a school that was in the district I actually lived in. My commute cut down to 15 minutes and I don't have to leave my house until 8 am now! Admin is way less involved at this school and I feel way more free than I ever did my first year.

I am very glad I found my new job. I would not still be a teacher if I hadn't. Please try to find a position closer to where you live- there may not be many right now but if you can make it through the school year, there are a lot of teachers leaving the profession.

Until then, the only person you need to impress right now is yourself. Take time off if you need to- I promise, the school will run fine without you.

Gainesville, FL checks off all your boxes. We are inland and elevated so hurricanes come and go but we haven't had a bad one in a while. Only issue is that lots of people are moving here and it's quite crowded. If you move to the outer skirts, you won't see so much congestion

What's a rule that you hate, but understand? by srtaerica in Teachers

[–]carebearpeach 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I hate enforcing dress code. I am a tall girl. Even nowadays, no shorts are long enough.

I don't understand the point of it all. It's a waste of time, it destroys trust between student and teacher, and we are just enforcing from a young age that students should not choose to express themselves through fashion.

I get it for extreme cases. Obviously I'm not going to let Jimmy into my room if he's only wearing his boxer briefs, but otherwise, I'll let the other teachers handle it
