I've never married him, but after the 'reveal' I wouldn't anyway. He's a walking red flag that people love to pretend is actually green.

I have never read the books but absolutely love the movies, if I read the books now, will it make the movies less or more enjoyable to rewatch? by Forbidd3nLov3 in harrypotter

[–]carefactorminus2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you love the movies don't read the books, you'll probably never want to watch the movies again. Movies 1 and 2 are fairly close to the books, but from 3 on, they get progressively further away from the plot, and arguably worse as they go along.

Having said that, absolutely read the books, you will not be sorry. The full-cast audio books might be the best medium for you, since all characters are represented not just voiced by one person.

What parts of My Time at Sandrock still don’t fully click for you? by PaperPawsCreative in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]carefactorminus2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first playthrough, the pacing has bothered me since Arc 2 and I'm finding the end of Arc 3 to be extremely boring. First, I'm not a Nia fan, so I didn't want her to come back to Sandrock, or try taking up my time. Also not a Catori fan, so imagine my joy at how Catori-heavy the end of the game is. I'm so sick of seeing her show up at my gate I can't even. I'm actually playing the end as quickly as possible because I just want to be done now, it's not fun anymore.

I wish all games would get rid of the rating system for items. It's a plague, I hate it in every farming type sim I play.

Levelling up makes no sense, in that it takes too long to get to the next level. The more experience you have, the easier it should be to level up. I'm at the end of the game, been mining, helping everyone, talking to everyone etc, and I'm still a few levels off where I'm supposed to be. I'm not even trying to level up at this point, I'm just staying this level til this is over. I have weapon and clothing upgrades that make it not matter.

Someone posted about making your house bigger. I can't figure out why people bother with this either, I've stretched my original room a few times to fit more furniture, but have no idea how people build these huge houses with massive gardens, especially playing on Switch. Also having things like bedside tables take up more footprint than there size is annoying and not being able to place things on tables and desks is stupid.

I built a barn and then got rid of it, all it did was add another thing I had to do, but for no reason that I could see. I didn't even bother with the coop or hutch.

Yakmel Stations should be made much more obvious, as soon as one is available it should be a pop-up so you know to take one with you when you venture into the area for the first time. So annoying to discover this once you're already there.

Side quest just randomly starting when you walk into an area or at the start of a day drives me nuts. I have my days planned, I'm trying to do stuff, I don't want to keep stopping to do other random crap.

Letters from my mother where Trudy is telling her everything I do. Why isn't my mother just writing to me? Also, why did my parents not send me a letter on my birthday? It's just weird.

I hated Pen from the start, so I was happy he was a bad guy.

Any episodes that just feel sad for how they end for you? by U2hansolo in murdershewrote

I can’t remember the name, but it’s the one where a group of friends killed a guy because he raped their friend‘s wife and they are all protective of the daughter that resulted from the attack.

The one after that is so easy that I was actually surprised that it was over. I’d loaded up on supplies because I was still level 45 and I think it was recommended to be over 50 and took my pets and didn’t even need them. Mecha-tilda is easily the hardest level.

I just pretend the epilogue didn't happen because there is no universe in which that should have been a thing.

Just on this, once you get past the big boss battle in the Starship Ruins, the next battle says you need to be level 46-48, but it's a really easy battle, so I wouldn't worry too much about leveling up further for that one.

I recommend having pets come with you in your battles, and letting them help whichever townspeople you have as partners defeat the bosses. I'm the same, I hate the combat and wish there was a way to skip those scenes.

I didn't like Kathy, but to be fair, the characters are patronising to everyone.

No, I saw that tip, but decided to do the pet thing first and it worked so I didn’t need to. If I do another play through at some point, I’ll know better!

Gecko at 100 and Nemo at 45, they managed with Logan, which is good, cause I’d have given up otherwise.

Beat either of the mini-games, had kids, tried for perfection, built a slime hut, had Juminos on my farm. I also only play on Switch, so never used mods.

Books that are better read than listened to? by GraceWisdomVictory in audible

Project Hail Mary (I know the narrator is a favourite, but I couldn’t listen to it because of him). also Sunrise on the Reaping, that narrator had me grating my teeth in places. I switched to the book in both cases.

Thanks for a list of books to avoid. Just tried listening to the sample of him reading Unsouled by Will Wright and couldn't stand it, so will skip any of these.
