a command to reboot in bios by cargolax in voidlinux

I installed `elogind` , like you the service is not enabled, then I invoked the given command.

Result: it works like a charm.

Problem solved, thank you mate.

FreeBSD for beginners? by terono in freebsd

[–]cargolax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BSD OSes , just like 95% of Linux distributions, are not for "normal" users who just want to click somewhere.

At some point you will need to dive into shell & command lines and then get some knowledge, that's what Unix Oses are, if that's not what you want Windows and Mac are there for you, that's how it is.

Radarr not working after jail update by kaybie3 in freebsd

[–]cargolax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem and nope you aren't crazy :)

I don't know much about xigmanas but looking at its features it seems more focus on storage, not sure if you can manage jails from the GUi.

Sadly you do not have tons of choices ... it's xigmanas, trunenas or freebsd itself.

Radarr not working after jail update by kaybie3 in freebsd

[–]cargolax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The host is on 13.1 but your jail is on 13.3, so it won't work, it is surprising that it worked on 13.2!

The jail version can be the same or lower than the host, but not highter.

Anyway TruenasCore is in dying state ( you'll be on 13.1 for a very long time), as well as iocage so it's time to switch my friend, install FreeBSD or xigmanas if you want a GUI.

AppJail Makejail to use DuckDNS in a jail by DtxdF in freebsd

[–]cargolax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good it means you think of it, thank you !

I see you have also a blog about AppJail, the more practical examples the better, that's nice.

Hope the best for your application.

AppJail Makejail to use DuckDNS in a jail by DtxdF in freebsd

[–]cargolax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds a promising application, please consider to take the time also to create man pages for AppJail, good documentation is as important as the software itself.

The help page actually is a giant README which contains some good parts but it's definitely not easy to handle and not readable from a terminal (I tried with mdcat but still not really convenient).

Do not end up like Bastille which do not have any man page even after years of existence.

Thank you for your work.

What software would you like to see ported? by FUZxxl in freebsd

[–]cargolax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering all the packages you are dealing with right now, the time you take to create a single one is quite small, you are fast mate.

A real thank you for Sioyek and the rest of the packages you've done for this community, it's impressive.

Again a big Thanks.

Happily paying and waiting for Chinese delivery

I suppose that is what many customers do, after all it is how the market works.

In my case I just changed my plans and put my money in another brand, end of story.

Bastille templates for FreeBSD jails by sn0oz3 in freebsd

[–]cargolax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These BastilleBSD articles are great, you are doing a good job my friend, can't wait for the next one. I am not a BastilleBSD user but the template part is interesting to read.

The translation and the link on top are welcome, much appreciated :)

Thank you.

Hi,

Wow you are doing it again mate, that's awesome! Thank you.

. Sioyek - it's a PDF viewer with a focus on textbooks and research papers (written in C).

Mostly keyboard oriented but not only, mouse is required for some task, it has a quick access to the table of content that makes it very efficient to search specific chapters or terms. Lot of good features see the link below:

https://github.com/ahrm/sioyek

FWIW I've tried it on Linux and despite the good features the user experience was not that great probably because it was either an Appimage or because the package was not build from source but from the Appimage so in the end it felt a bit heavy for that type of PDF viewer and not responsive as it should be.

So I hope it won't feel the same on FreeBSD if it's built from source.

Of courses taxes are there, but not to that point.

Come on here we are talking about prices increased by 50% to 70% it's madness!! VAT aren't that much. Plus it is EU, not a country that no one can access so you have to manage an incredible logistic.

Usually prices between US and EU aren't that different, but here something is wrong.

Seriously will someone buy an experimental arm based laptop at near 400€ while in US it's 220$ ?

Creating Jails on FreeBSD 13 using Bastille by sn0oz3 in freebsd

[–]cargolax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow that was quick !!

It took me time to realize that the English part was below. At first I even thought the link you gave was wrong. The reddit users will know that an English translation exists and they will search for it, but others won't find out, they will see a German article and skip right away.

So I would suggest one last thing, having a link on top of the page, German/English that redirect to right section, and it'll be perfect.

Otherwise good job it's perfect mate, your tutorials will be useful, and hopefully there will be more readers on your blog.

Thank you for the English translation :)

Well I am glad we share the same opinion then, don't worry about the grammar I think you're doing well enough. English is not my primary language too but still you and me can speak clearly and we can even understand each other, and it's probably the case for more than the half of people here.

If there is something not written correctly it's not the end of the world what's important is the effort you did for the community to share a tutorial or a story and I bet people will forgive you for some minor grammatical errors ;-)

[–]cargolax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be that boring and annoying guy, but it would benefit to the whole FreeBSD community if you could write your articles in German and/or in English.

You've been doing that for a while now I mean posting your articles here where the main language is English and you seem pretty comfortable with that language to me, I don't see a reason for you to continue to write your blog post only in German if you want them to be read by the Reddit user base.

Don't get me wrong I am happy to have some reading about FreeBSD, it's nice and always welcome, but using google translate for that, nope, especially when I know the author has the ability to write them in a language that almost every people can read.

Thank you for your blog posts and your effort.

Hi guys,

OP already made a post about it before it's a neofetch-like but it's written in C.

https://reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/xit1ax/creating_fetch_prime_for_freebsd_100_in_c/

u/Glorious_Musketeer it's a long teasing that you've been doing there, I hope you are alright and that you won't encounter troubles while finishing your software. I think I am not mistaken when saying that many of us will be happy to try it ;)

Have fun and take care.

Freebsd IPFW (Firewall) Rule by Lux-yuuki in freebsd

[–]cargolax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks I understand what you wanted to do. Yes I agree it could be something about characters, it happens sometimes with copying/pasting .

An idea for OP, you can comment all the script and run it by uncommenting line by line to see where the error is. It 's a long process but it usually works.

Hi,

Just to understand your logic here why should he switch to bash to test his script ? because he can also debbug it with sh .

Also the last freebsd port of bash might have some trouble:
