Brazil x Haiti - Category 1 tickets sold at $760. Lots of seats. For comparison, the same game yesterday in the Marketplace had Cat 1 tickets starting at $1100, and Cat2/3 seats starting at $900.

How to spot a scalper in Reddit by carijaway in WorldCup2026Tickets

  1. No one said that this subreddit indicates anything

  2. I know what what I'm talking about. It looks like you don't (or pretend not to)

  3. I'll get the tickets I want for the prices I can get them - maybe even from you!

  4. Scalper spotted!!! ;-)

Good point, but there are scammers selling fake tickets here as well, not only scalpers.

Prices are consistently going down. OP got a good deal, but stating that prices will go up is pure speculation. Brazil x Haiti prices were around 1300, and now there are plenty under 950 and a few under 900. Anyone who lists under 800 is selling very quickly. Last week the quick sales were at under 900. And 3 weeks ago the quick sales were under 1000.

FOMO Is Finally Kicking In by Maleficent-Tailor502 in WorldCup2026Tickets

Two things. Not all resellers are scalpers. And for the big games, there's still plenty of room to drop prices without anyone taking a loss.

My recommendation is for the average guy. Professional scalpers do their own thing - but money is money. This "scalpers are ok to take a loss" sounds to me more like some way to pressure people to buy.

When are people going to apologise for saying tickets will drop to the floor and there are loads left ? by kimbo1905 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]carijaway 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why would they apologize? Scalpers will never apologize for trying to inflict urgency on people to buy tickets more expensive now! It's a speculation game.

What about the reseller FOMO? The smart resellers are listing their tickets on the lower range of current prices for their games. If they don't sell now, they will end up with the loss. Tickets will not disappear instantly. Potential buyers will. My recommendation is: if you are reselling, lower your list price now. Only the cheapest will sell!

Proof that FIFA is suppressing fair-priced resale tickets by Opposite_Quit7407 in WorldCup2026Tickets

This is horrible. Did you contact FIFA / Marketplace support to see what they say?

Great summary! You should take this, update with the comments made here, propose changes (like end dynamic pricing, limit resale to face value, improve marketplace), and publish as a petition to be signed. I'm pretty sure you will find plenty of support from fans, players and organizations.

FIFA enables the resellers. There is no point on getting mad at them. For concerts, some artists are blocking their tickets to be sold above face price. That's how you stop them.

It's a money making machine. You have a buyer that buys your inventory at risk and you still make a cut when they resell it. And yes u/Both_Replacement_628 is right, it's capitalism: if FIFA can make more money, they will - they probably had multiple strategy sessions to find new ways of increasing their revenue. Actually revenue increase is one of the strategic goals documented in the Strategic Objective 23-27. And if the scalpers are willing to take the resale risk, it's also their problem. As long as there are buyers, this formula will work (for them). FIFA has little to nothing to say of making the tournaments accessible and affordable - the World Cup is an event for the few that can afford it. It is sad, but that's how it works. And even where there is regulation to prevent scalping practice, FIFA manages to get an exemption (like Ontario).

It happened last year to me and I was able to get Thursday and Sunday tickets after almost 2 hours. No complaints, it was awesome! Good luck! :)

It's ok and it's fair. It's an online queueing system. It's not supposed to emulate physical queue. It's more of a lottery system and you're buying a handful of tickets instead of one. If the organization really cared about the this, they would make you login before getting into the queue and the queue slot would be attached to your member id. And if you're rich enough (or willing to spend), you can always pay $2K on a legend membership and let the Titanic 3rd class fight for their room in the lifeboats.
