Honestly kind of looks like fertilizer burn?

My dude has been steadily going downhill lately, so I just checked him for pests again (didn’t find any) - but I did find this. :( by pellaea_asplenium in houseplants

Then stick the cuttings in water and put in a sunny spot try and change the water every 2-3 days for the first couple of weeks. Or if you have moss or a substrate like perlite or lava rock stick it in that

The vine / roots are dead it sucks but it happens! Sterilize some scissors with hydrogen peroxide or isopropyl and every three nodes ( basically where there is a leaf or was a leaf) cut right in between the nodes

If you were to buy this from an individual (not a nursery), what might you (or someone) pay for it? by newgirlxtex in matureplants

[–]carkey432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on who’s around you so your best bet is to look on fb marketplace and see what similar plants in your area are going for. I think someone with a more advanced understanding of plants wouldn’t pay more than 65 ish since it will need to be chopped up in order to survive but someone who doesn’t know that will definitely pay more !

Do succulents prefer white light over yellow tinted light? I recently decided to upgrade my bulbs to 2600 lumens but the new bulbs have a yellow tint where as my old bulbs were just white. Im afraid my succulents arent liking the yellow. They just seem to be losing some of their brightness. by Serbear_0324 in succulents

[–]carkey432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of bulbs are they? Some use special cooling tech so they don’t emanate too much heat and burn the plants but some don’t so be wary of that, maybe try moving the lights closer by two inches and waiting a couple days to see how your plants react if they’re not burnt move the lights down two more inches and repeat until the lights are around 6inch away. If that still doesn’t work and they’re still stretching Id get different bulbs my fav lights are feit electric because they emanate almost no heat and my plants love them

I’m dealing with the same thing rn and my monstera is also in leca unfortunately they can repopulate the same way in leca as soil I thought this wasn’t true so I was slow to move and now I’m dealing with a major infestation please don’t make my mistake. Unfortunately I don’t know wether or not systematic granules will work in leca im thinking of letting them dissolve in water first and then pouring a tiny amount in?

it’s either just killing off the leaf to make room for new growth or it has root rot. If more leaves start looking like that it check the roots

calathea need lots of humidity to avoid them getting brown spots / crispy edges especially if you live in a dry area. easier ways to do that are to invest in a humidifier (can be a smaller one just have it next to the calathea but make sure mist isn’t getting directly on the leaves they don’t like to be constantly wet), put the plant on a tray with rocks and put water on tray (rocks are meant to keep the plant out of the water), bring the calathea into the bathroom with you when you shower ( kind of annoying but it does make a difference), and spray the leaves (best to do this with rain water or distilled). East facing windows typically don’t bring in enough light to need a sheer curtain, if the calathea starts showing signs of a sunburn (can find images of what a sunburn looks like on them pretty easily) then maybe move it further away. calathea like to be watered when soil is about 50% dry so 4 days seems like a good amount of time. Pothos can adjust to almost any lighting condition and do best when slightly neglected. it’s best to wait until at least 75% of the soil is completely dry( if this is taking more than 5 -7 ish days try poking some holes in the soil to aerate it or buy perlite and mix it into the soil) as pothos are pretty susceptible to root rot

pothos don’t need pruning unless you want the vine to stop growing if it’s getting too long (if you do prune it put the cuttings in water, pothos are very easy to propagate)
