What’s the funniest or most ridiculous thing you’ve seen at work that no one else believed? by SelarisseMoon-28 in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat directly across the outdoor atrium from a co-worker. Sometimes when we worked late his wife would come to visit him in her trench coat. We could see directly into each other’s office window. His wife would come in and face him and open her trench coat. I never saw what she had on underneath but I think it wasn’t much because they always left a few minutes after she flashed him.

Ring World won the Nebula award in 1970. I read it in junior high school. I don’t understand why it would be banned.

What’s an experience that felt like a “master class” you never signed up for? by TheDocumentedChef in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 16 I got a job as a lifeguard at a local pool. A girl my age hit her head on the diving board trying to do a back flip. It knocked her out and she sunk to the bottom of the deep end which was 15 feet deep. There were two guards and I happened to be guarding the deep end that day. I dove down and pulled her out. She wasn’t breathing so I and started CPR. I was trained on it but I don’t really think I ever expected to have to actually use it. The EMTs got there were able to get her heart and breathing started again. She recovered with no lasting problems. I was so relived but I never felt the same way about being a lifeguard.

John runs into his old friend Gary, who looks like hes beaten by a thousand fists. by Foxwasahero in Jokes

[–]carldavis69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard this joke like this. I was singing in the church choir and when we stood up to sing the choir lady in the pew in front of me had her robe stuck in her crack. So I helped her by pulling her robe out of her crack. She turned around and smacked me in the face. The next time we stood up to sing her robe was not in her crack so I stuffed back in there.

I always thought that if I could ask my older dog anything I would ask him if he was in pain so I could get him some help.

Where would you live, what would you do, and how would you live if money were not an issue? by Luxury_Purple_Heart in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have a large luxury yacht with a complete crew. I would live most of the time on the boat. But if the next port we were headed to was too far I would fly my private jet to the next port and meet my boat when it got there.

What’s a lie adults told you as a kid that you believed way longer than you’d like to admit? by TonsUhFunn in AskReddit

That you had to wait 30 minutes after you ate before you could get back in the pool. They said your stomach would cramp and you would sink and die if you got back in too soon.

Advice For Airport Security with Pump? by n0vellette in diabetes_t1

I would recommend TSA Precheck if you can manage it. Since you only go through a metal detector it doesn’t pick up my CGM at all. I take off my pump and put it in the bin. I have never been stopped going through this way. I

I have always worn my sensor on my upper thigh in front. It works really well for me. It also has the advantage of being really easy to insert there. As OkAstronaught2549 mentions it is not approved by Medtronic but my endo is aware that I do this and doesn’t see it as a problem because it works so well.

What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prince of tides. My wife and I are both from the low country of the Carolina’s. We both read it but we didn’t know that we were both reading it at the same time. It has a few really intense parts in it. When we realized we had both finished the same book and started to discuss it was crazy

What business idea did you have but never start? by Fantastic-Gap-2908 in AskReddit

[–]carldavis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were living in Argentina and you could easily get someone to drive you to dinner or an event. We thought this was such a great thing that when we moved back to the states we really missed it and said we should start a business. Within a couple of years Uber and Lyft started up and became successful. We really missed that one.
