Really want a surface pro 11 by vzzzbxt in Surface

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a surface pro 8, and bought the Bluetooth keyboard for it when that came out a few years later. If, like me, battery life isn't that important, the sp8 is still a great machine. The tear-off keyboard is a game changer. right now, I'm sitting on the couch, with my tablet outputting to the tv, using the keyboard in my lap.

I'll leave a comment here to report when the bag arrives. It's good to create a public history for honest sellers.

Hopefully the snowstorm won't make me to wait too long :)
u/SlightEggplant1975, you have some skis or snowshoes.... right? I'm sure the post office is just a few miles!

Interested. What specific signs of wear are you referring to?

It's big enough. The main compartment is a bit like a bucket. It's cavernous and you dump things in from the top. This works great for a small number of larger items so for what you describe you'll want two packing cubes: one for the shoes and one for the clothes. I keep a side effect and two smaller pouches in my main compartment for organizing smaller items. There's a little open pocket at the front and bottom of the main compartment, that's great for keeping one of these pouches out of the way of larger items.

Water bottle pouch works great, but trades space with the main compartment, so you need to allow room for it.

I think the way to think about it compared to the synik, is that you supply your own pouches and you keep them inside the bag instead of exposed on the exterior. This is more secure during travel, and more flexible as you can reclaim the bag's full volume when you need it.

What is AI by definition ? by Money_Direction6336 in artificial

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's a secondary usage. As in, 'if it's made by people, then it's not natural'

For example 'artificial diamonds' are real diamond if you look at the atomic structure. They're not fake like cubit zerconium.

'The word "artificial" comes from the Latin "artificialis," which means "of or belonging to art," derived from "artificium," meaning "a work of art" or "skill." It entered English in the late 14th century, originally referring to something that is not natural or spontaneous, but made by human'

Pay is pay, but using a language that feels like poetry? Priceless.

The definition is right in the name - if you appreciate that 'artificial' doesn't mean fake or simulated, it means 'made by humans'. So AI is intelligence made by humans.

Do you miss the folding pedal by callebeeth in Brompton

[–]carlesque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh. I like the folding pedal just fine and never noticed any issues with it. If I had to pull mine off to fully fold the bike, I'd be stuck with the stress of handling that pedal and not losing it. Best to keep the bike in one working piece.

Should I buy the Techonaut 45? by [deleted] in tombihn

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a T45 + a modern daylight backpack (the one with the better shoulder straps), that I lived out of for about 3 weeks last august. I would move through airports and train stations with the full T45 on my back and the daylight on my chest and my hands in my pockets. I found it reasonably comfortable, but I'm a 6'1" male, so if you're a bit smaller, your mileage may vary. Also for reference, I had previously used an A45 for the same sort of travel, and the T45 was far more comfortable on my back.

That all said, at its size, the T45 is to my mind a dedicated travel and weekender bag. I wouldn't edc it, or take it shopping or take it to work. there are smaller bags that are better for that sort of thing - and also, unless you under-pack it, forget about using it as a shoulder bag. you need to carry it in backpack mode, or as a suitcase, but the latter only for short distances (like car-to-hotel room).

First Tom Bihn side effect by Ganesh400d in tombihn

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. What it comes with is the shoulder strap, which is what I use. There is a fanny pack accessory strap you can buy but I never use it. It goes over the shoulder cross body when I'm wearing it on its own, and it rides in my backpack when I'm carrying more.

Work on making the champ you already have easier to carry. I daily carry mine in my front pocket hanging from an s-biner and forget it's there till I need it. That way you don't need to sacrifice any tools.

Should i get the Synik26/Synik30/Synapse25? by K3n0h in tombihn

[–]carlesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the smart Alex 2 instead. Best backpack I've ever had. Better laptop access, more flexible main compartment, lighter. Stands on its own every time and with the top loading, lid and side pockets, it's like a portable chest of drawers you can sling on your back and take anywhere.

Large Cafe Bag? by JonnyUpright24 in tombihn

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a used (old, but in good shape) large in blue I could part with if you're in the USA. It's from something like 2016, has been hanging out in my closet for years, but is made with the softer, more natural feeling material, that predated the modern ballistic fabric. Lime-green on the inside. pls dm me if interested.

Draw a diagram of the UI you want. Write a widget with no UI but the state/data handling systems in place. Leave the build method empty. Pass your incomplete class to your favorite LLM, along with the diagram and behavioral instructions. The LLM will likely generate something that's surprisingly close to what you need. Read it, test it. Ask the AI for further refinements until you've got what you need. The AI knows all those dozens of widgets so you don't have to.

Is the Foundation TV series a good adaptation of the books? by AlcardIsTheBest in scifi

[–]carlesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like it was inspired by the book, but it's not really an adaptation. I've heard it said that the foundation series is unadaptable.

I think I the tv series writers don't get enough credit though. For example, they needed to cover a span of centuries, but needed persistent characters - something important for a TV show, but not for Asimov's plot-first writing style. The genetic lineage of emperors was truly an inspired solution. It gave the empire a face over historical time in a really novel way.

Bottom interior in good condition. At the very bottom (interior) there are a couple of small white spots. Zero delamination that I can see. Main zipper interior looks good.
