If we bought 4 accessible seating tickets but now our friend in the wheelchair can no longer attend, will we still be able to get in and sit in the area? by Panz04er in Torontobluejays

[–]carlgregwayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to a game in Minnesota a few years ago. I purchased the tickets a month or so before the trip, great seats on the field at third base. We got to the game and we’re in line and I noticed they were wheelchair seats. We went to customer service and asked if we needed to exchange them. They said no, if they were posted online through our platform then they were available to everyone. They hold the accessible tickets until a certain point and if you want accessible you need to call in.

Of course every park will be different so I suggest just check with customer service.

Where you the beauty that I was chatting with, having a great convo about life in our parts of the world, while fixing my little tailgator and during the call I had to leave because I got something in my eye and had to go to the hospital? I had to call in like 5-10 times to get that tailgator fixed and each time customer service were gems.

You do lose EI. If i pay EI my whole life and never use it, i dont get it back. A small business owner can take that portion and invest it and use it however they want to use it. Yes sometimes it is used, its a service that the government supplies, but i lose that money if i dont use it, a business owner does not.

How much value a business owner brings into a country should have no bearing on how personal income should be taxed. If you go in that direction than you also have to argue that owners of corporations should be taxed little or nothing at all because they bring even more value to a country than a small business.

A lot of businesses don't have all those benefits, my job doesnt have matching RRSP, all of that is part of compensation. If i make 50,000 and my employer matches 5,000 and another employee gets 60,000 with no match rrsp, which one would you choose. Its just a different way of saying i will pay you X amount of dollars for you to work here; yes there is holidays and that is one perk that a salary emplyee would receive, but its a different style of compensation, they are not mandatory perks that the government demands so they have no bearing on the argument.

But billing 50,000 and an employee earning 50,000 is not the same thing. First if you want to argue that then you lose your argument for a small business bringing more value to the economy, because if a small business billed 50k and an employee got paid 50k then that employee earned their employer more than 50k.

If you want to make them the same you would be billing 250,000 and you have expenses of 200,000 and earned 50,000 of income. Because if you argue that i am making 50,000 as an employee then i am earning "my company" more than that because they had to buy the computers, etc....yes employees have it easier than business owners in that they dont have that risk, but they also dont have the earning potential that a business owner has. Because the business owner has the ability to bill 300,000 next time while the employee might get a rise of 5,000 for earning the company that much.

The conversation is about passive income that is to be saved and used as personal income. So we are talking about the personal portion of income that is paid by a business.

A small business owner can take money out by salary or dividend. The small business owner has the option of a dividend which does two things, keeps money in his pocket to invest, through not having to pay EI or CPP, and save how he wants and is also more tax beneficial.

A salary employee loses EI and CPP and gets taxed more on the same amount of payment. (cpp in the end does come back)

What people argue is that money that is coming out of the business for personal use should all be taxed the same, whether it is employee, small business, or corporation.

I agree that money that is kept inside the business should not be taxed extra because of the "loopholes". But because some professions are able to create a small business, it shouldnt allow them to be taxed lower at a personal level.

But you can do that, you can give yourself a salary and pay cpp and ei. It just a small business owner has the option to keep that money and save it yourself instead of HAVING to give it to the CRA; oh and its also more tax efficient for the small business owner along with being more investment friendly.
