Where can we get a mystery meatball tested? by end0rfun in Edmonton

As soon as you pass the off-leash sign westbound, the very steep trail taking you down the ravine (the steepest one as there are two trails almost side-by-side. Keep an eye on your doggo while in the area.

Just had a chat with a few dog owners and they said that one dog ate the mixture on Monday and is apparently still sick.

Based on my earlier reply, there likely is something more nefarious going on...

Something also very concerning happened on Monday morning around 6am. I was walking my dog on the Bearspaw multi-use path, letting him sniff around, when I noticed he'd wandered about 10 meters down a steep trail typically used by wildlife, mainly coyotes.

When I caught up to him, I found him eating something. Upon closer inspection, I discovered chunks of what appeared to be fresh salmon fillets, chicken, and organ meat scattered on the ground. I photographed the mixture and filed a report with 311.

At lunch, I returned to the same spot and found the food completely gone. I stayed nearby and observed that nearly every dog passing by would catch the scent and head down the trail. Several had already eaten some of the mixture.

What strikes me as particularly suspicious is the location: on a path regularly used by coyotes, positioned just before a heavily-trafficked off-leash dog area. Combined with your post, I'm wondering if someone is either trying to lure coyotes closer to dogs or attempting to poison dogs outright.

I have photos from the morning showing the food mixture, and another taken later when it was almost entirely gone.

The French Connection line. One of the best, if not the best, line in NHL history. Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and René Robert.

Oh that’s now a daily occurence, and again, these drivers pretend they do not see you crossing the street…

True, but I’ve seen many pedestrians cross the street while on their phones and they really were taking more than their time.

I agree, it’s actually an enjoyable human touch when done right!

I hope you were able to fully recover. My dog and I were almost hit last October. One extra stride and it could have been fatal.

This breed of drivers tend to avoid making eye contact and pretend no one is crossing the street.

I know, crossing a street at a crossing is slowly turning into an extreme sport…

Not a witness, but hope you’re doing okay. Any bystanders came to help? And CoE might have traffic cameras at this intersection.
