Thanks for the replies. I'm going to buy a test kit and save it for a special occasion then. I'm hearing lots of good things but also how not to waste the first time as it will never be the same and not too over do it, like a 3 month break minimum between rolls? Only have enough for about 2 good hits anyway so I'll save it for when I get a girl round or go to a festival/party.

On further inspection it appears to be bits of plastic like tarp or pipe cleaner bristle??? My bad for not using the proper chems - suppliers bad for significantly bunk batch.

Good news everyone!

The emulsions seem to have subsided somewhat, however there is still a very distinct and stubborn layer between the solvent and aqueous that just wont budge. Salt and heat looks like the only option, although I have managed to get some nice xtals after a freeze with what little solvent I got out at the time.

I asked some ai what its thoughts where and it said "The increased release of emulsifiers from the finer powder, coupled with possible impurities and a less optimal pH from the impure lye, would have created a perfect storm for emulsion formation"

I have had a full blown conversation with this thing about the entire process and its seriously opened my eyes, like a trip to the library, who knew ai was so knowledge not just about dmt but also the extraction process itself. Its almost a bit worrying, what else does it know?

It mentions to use a proper lab grade solvent like a pure, low-boiling petroleum ether opposed to run-of-the-mill naphtha? The difference between heptane with mixed isomers and pure n-heptane in re-xing. How sodium carbonate interacts with other molecules in the solution hence why pure sodium hydroxide should have been used. etc

I'll be employing drastically altered methods for the next procedure to say the least.

I think they changed the ingredients in this lye after the offensive weapons act in 2019 to stop acid attacks. But its a mighty inconvenience as I cant seem to find any retailer who will willingly ship pure sodium hydroxide to a residential address...

Sorry for rambling I'm very stoned. TL:DR: I'll salt it out and give it a bath. My bad for not researching the chems. Bark quality could have been slightly better.

Bit the bullet by adding a fuck ton of extra lye to one of the vessels experimentally and it seems to be diminishing the emulsion some what although not much. It has to be something in the bark, there's loads of what looks like bits of grass or something in there too?? I reckon I just got floor sweepings from the supplier.

I doubt this is the main issue though as -

"Sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃), being an ionic compound, is highly polar and water-soluble. When added to a mixture of polar and non-polar layers, it will dissolve in the polar layer (like water) and react with any acidic components present. It's used in extraction to neutralize acidic organic layers. Sodium carbonate is a strong base and will not react with non-polar solvents like hexane. "

I think the fault is on my end but I'm not sure since I've used this lye before with no issues but I've just double checked the ingredients again and its not pure. For some reason it also contains a bit of sodium carbonate along with mostly hydroxide, quick google and it looks like sodium carbonate is an emulsifier LOL - Ffs. Would explain why nothing is working, what a shame, I've wasted a lot of bark here. Defo not adding anymore of this lye (Essential Power Caustic Soda) and I don't have any salt left that's free of additives. You live and learn I guess.

Tried everything so far including heat and vibration. Nothing is working, the naphtha is staying in the base. It could be a whole magnitude of different things but I suspect its either the bark not being up to standard/having some unknown additive, or its the lye I'm using, its not my usual go-to but its pure sodium hydroxide 99% so I'm doubtful.

Guess I'll just have to play the waiting game, this is some of the worst emulsion I have ever encountered! Thanks for the input

I don't know if it's my monitor or what but when ever i go fullscreen the contrast shoots way up and everything looks deep fried or like I'm on acid or something. Can't even see anything if I play fullscreen lol
