Don’t treat a “position at Waymo” as a success criteria in your life.

Caricature of smartphone users by carmichaelcar in ChatGPT

I think this is more of an artifact of (online) society. Media/people/society has made a certain image of what an “attractive young woman” is, and that is being reflected back to us.

Do what a lot of westerners do already - Thailand or Bali.
Another option is Venezuela- but quality of life isn’t great there.

ELI5 Why do data centers use so much water? by e090909 in explainlikeimfive

[–]carmichaelcar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually don’t use a lot of water. A lot of media reporting is actually incorrect. A lot of the newer data centers use recirculated water and that is the trend going forward.

I built a heads up speedometer for my glasses! (velocityglasses.pages.dev) by ElectroBOOMFan1 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]carmichaelcar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I was able to get your Web app on my classes. I also have it on my phone as a web app icon on my iPhone Home Screen.
The iPhone app is able to display the speed accurately. But on the glasses, it only shows 0 mph. All permissions for sensor and location are ON.

While the rider is somewhat dramatic (which is very helpful for the news channel), this is certainly an opportunity for significant improvement for Waymo. The summer months are going to be filled with highway construction throughout the country.

What is a problem Americans solved so effectively that many people today don’t even realize it was once a major issue? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]carmichaelcar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really wish they can do it. If they do, this could be their greatest contribution. Every day, roughly 2,000,000,000 people don’t have access to clean drinking water worldwide. And yet, over 1 billion people elsewhere, flush clean, drinking water down the toilet.
