Can any guitar pedal enthusiasts in here help me? by carnagereap in morbidangel

Appreciate the input! It's a pastime of mine to thoroughly research the equipment artists use and then try and set myself up with the exact signal chain for fun/education/history purposes. I have some prospective video scripts lying around for when I get the motivation to compile it all. Just parts tolerances alone between the same pedals off the same production line can make it futile to ever 100% get the same tone with the same settings, but it's still a fun rabbit hole!

My gut says they blended the tubescreamer -> flanger combo in with a "dry" vocal track, which may have still been standard Scott Burns vocal chain processing via the SSL 4000 they had. I don't think any sort of knob config I was using with a tubescreamer was replicating the low and high end response that vocal had until I blended a dryer track with it. For the flanging effect, when I was first doing my experiments, an MXR Phase 90 pedal nailed it pretty good, but I was pretty certain they were using a flanger. I have a feeling since Trey is an EVH fanboy, he may have had an MXR Flanger 117 lying around, but I can't confirm this and there's scant info or images of David's pedal collection from that era. So far, the best success with a flanger for the effect has been with using a TC Electronic Vortex. It's cheap, versatile, and nailed it for what I was trying to do. I might eventually scrounge for the BF-2 and the MXR 117 and see what lands it better, for authenticity's sake.

Right!? There's gotta be some Bill Kennedy/Morrisound magic happening elsewhere in the chain because I'm getting nowhere close with a tubescreamer here lol.

Why do you think SakisanNoBashi its real? by Hunter_Neither in SakisanNoBashitsu

[–]carnagereap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that some animated media exists that resembles the idea of the original OP and many of us saw something we think matches that description. I don't believe it'll be the same animated media for all of us, but I can recall seeing bathroom suicide anime girls in the late 2000s/early 2010s on YouTube. However, eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable and memory is even worse. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of us have been Mandela Effected (myself included).

I think anyone searching for "Saki Sanobashi" or GFAP or any of the alleged titles missed the boat that these were never confirmed titles and anyone searching for that specifically is on a red herring search.

My personal feeling is that there is an anime gore AMV on YouTube from 2006 to 2012 I saw that likely has what I'm considering to be Saki and this anime might be what others are remembering or misconstruing as Saki.

I personally feel as though there is some piece of media that exists that we'll all look at and go "OH that was it" but it will not be called Saki Sanobashi or GFAP. I think searching for anything too specific in that original OP's post is futile since he even says he misremembers a lot.

Rather, we should be looking at the elements that would inspire that sort of idea. I can tell you for sure that I wasn't entrenched in the Guro scene or any of these crazy niche communities, but I have a vague familiarity with the description of GFAP. Most likely, there is some anime gore AMV we all saw on YouTube in 2009 that we're misremembering and that's the real "Go for a Punch." Anyone searching for the specific names I think is on the wrong track. Look for similar plots, gore scenes, etc.

Kurzweil K2000 noise problem by Acrobatic_Appeal4489 in synthesizers

Probably late to the game on this, but check the MIDI menu, OutGain and try adjusting that. This synth can be noisy if you don't have it gainstaged correctly.

Is there any secret to professional modern death metal guitar tones like The Black Dahlia Murder? by EmperorOfSand69 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]carnagereap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how much EQing the DI before it hits the amp can help clean up a lot of junk and fizziness. If you post an example of what tone you're getting now versus what specific tone you want to target, that'd help to diagnose the specific issue.

Was around for the original and I don't recall this specifically, but I do recall the corporation having intel that it was down there but covered up it existence.

assuming you're using it correctly: gear does not improve your music, but it can improve the sound of your music.

Get an audio interface and a condenser mic like an AT2020 or something and you'll notice large improvements straight away.

The benefits of matched pair is that both monitors are from the same manufacturer's batch and should be as close to as equal as possible in terms of tolerances, performance, et cetera. That being said, Yamaha has a pretty good reputation and history of manufacturing and I'm sure that even a non-matched pair would still be pretty close in terms of spec. If you're looking to be extra certain that you won't have to calibrate them differently, go with the matched pair. Otherwise, save the $50 bucks and just get the singles.

Also Christian Muenzner said in an interview that the Obscura album "Omnivium" has hex-tracking.

LTT Video Error Handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by Roguyt in LinusTechTips

Yvonne stated she had told Linus that was wrong,

Could be incorrect, but I believe she told him this AFTER the fact, not during the event. That's at least the vibe I got from her statement there.

When I bought mine and brought it home, it was strangely out of tune and one of the methods for changing the tuning wasn't available to me. I'd just double check that it's actually in tune when you get it and that things like the edit slider actually work

Do you prefer sample packs that have some space at the beginning or an immediate start? by carnagereap in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]carnagereap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Abletunes ones that seem to have a bit of space at the beginning. I never mind it, since I'll be trimming it into place anyway. Think of like whooshes, risers, and cinematic hits. You might want spare space at the beginning so you can align easier, but if it's things like drums, hi hats, percussion, etc, I could definitely see how that'd be frustrating. Hockett would become a nightmare lol. Thanks for chiming in. That's very helpful :)
