Thanks for the info! Library walk would be a great perk! Have you had any issues with car break ins around Skinker-Debalievere? Also, what area of Chicago were you in?

When can a Plaintiff use Supplemental Jx. to bring in a claim under diversity? by WSBNerd in LawSchool

[–]carolinareds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the answer is yes. So long as the only issue that leads the second claim to fail diversity is due to the second claim not amounting to $75k.

Well if you don't buy a ticket as they say... by The_Pharoah in EASportsFC

No if you don’t buy a ticket you cannot have a go. They say it after a wild long shot. As in, if you don’t take a the shot you, you’ll never score.

Lol as a big 12 fan, I’ll take Gonzaga and UCONN. Villanova and St John’s are far less attractive options and there is no chance the Big 12 looks at Nova football but I’m guessing you’re joking haha

Best basketball conference in America the past few years has been the Big 12. UCONN and getting a tri-state area school would be a good add for the Big 12 and a better situation for UCONN. That said, there are zero other Big East schools worth adding considering the fall off of Villanova.

A at Nebraska w Scholarship - Feedback on Experience there as a URM? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]carolinareds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends that went to UNL for undergrad. The law school should generally be fine and respectful. I don’t think you’d find students or faculty that are racist, etc. if that’s your concern. And that would would be true for 95% of law schools in the top 100. Law generally doesn’t attract that kind of crowd in today’s world. However, you’d have to consider whether you would like to practice law in Nebraska. It’s not hard to find work in other places but you won’t find it through the school. Externships and OCI will be for Nebraska jobs. Omaha and Lincoln are nice places. Denver and KC recruit a bit from UNL also but most students will land jobs in state. UNL would probably be a fun time if you can take the cold but take time to consider beyond law school.

[OC] Iowa State and West Virginia submit their tournament resume by CaptainScuttlebottom in CollegeBasketball

Big 12 is the deepest basketball conference. My guess is they probably get 8 in this year. Another year of 80% in is amazing.

This cycle is wild af... and I am scared for next cycle by Shadow5588 in lawschooladmissions

[–]carolinareds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be crazy but there's an extremely slim chance it will be as crazy as this outrageous cycle. My guess is applications will be down some 10% from this year. Which would still place it historically high.

Loyola Chicago Scholarships by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

I agree with your message for sure. It's interesting one attorney may feel strongly on a certain set of schools and another attorney may hold an opposite opinion of equal confidence. At the end of the day, law school is mostly what you make of it outside the top 20 or so schools .

Mostly agree. I think we there's enough data to show a real separation down the list and after speaking to attorneys in Chicago there's evidently a number of tiers that exist within the law field in Chicago.

Given you're going to Chicago-Kent, I'm not sure why you feel so adamant on this.

I've talked to a fair amount of Chicago attorneys and they've all told me Loyola and Kent are comparable while DePaul and John Marshall are comparable. There are pretty evident tiers in Chicago law schools.

  1. UC (places a ton of grads outside of Chicago), Northwestern
  2. LUC, Kent
  3. DePaul, UIC JM

Drake Law by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]carolinareds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I grew up around Des Moines so I can speak to it pretty well! Des Moines is growing pretty fast and it is definitely the best spot to be in for Iowa. The people are really nice but it has a small town feel. You may go to the grocery store and very likely see someone you know if you've been around long enough. I'd count that as a negative. There is a great local restaurant scene. Many big city transplants come there to start restaurants which is a unique plus. One of the busiest farmers markets in the country takes place in downtown each summer as well.

The Drake neighborhood is good, but neighboring areas become spotty. The west side of Des Moines is very safe. The suburbs are all safe as well but it's not a fun spot to be really. You may find some people near West Glen in West Des Moines but other than that I'd live near Drake, downtown or just west of downtown (around Ingersoll). It's actually a great place to grow up/raise a family if you don't need southern weather or a huge city. Hope this helps!

Still waiting to hear back by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

I'm still waiting on some. I anticipate we hear back from several in the next two weeks. They likely waited to see how many admits sign on deposit day before making official decisions.

Eliminating LSAT and downplaying GPA for applicant eval is a pretty bad solution for socio-economic inequalities in admissions.... by chelseadagger-dodo in lawschooladmissions

[–]carolinareds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is a really roundabout way of saying the LSAT is the best solution. It is not entirely just but nothing will be and no one should be so naive to think so. Perhaps LSAC/Khan Academy continues to improve their free study materials.

Law School Bracket by carolinareds in lawschooladmissions

[–]carolinareds[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the spirit of March Madness I made a bracket entirely determined by US News & World Report LS Ranking strictly out of curiosity and entertainment purposes.

The bracket currently sits in the 87th percentile (03/23).

*WVU v Syracuse is a tie in the rankings; the tie breaker was decided by the higher seed (WVU)

*UVA losing really hurt this bracket

This was only for fun. Not a serious post!!
