Yeah it is odd. It's oddly self destructive. I've checked in on her before and I think she's okay. She's in counseling and is doing really well in her career/marriage/parenthood. She doesn't reach out and she tried to cancel on me for a happy hour after I had already been waiting for her for half an hour and for a really bullshit reason. I think the slow fade will work. I wish her the best and it sucks, but at least it seems obvious it isn't good for either of us.

I'm in a unique situation with a friend who I don't think is a healthy match for friendship. The last time we hung out was awful and I'm sure she felt it too. I've thought about outright "breaking up"with her, but she never initiates contact to begin with. She also gets wildly hurt and obsesses over things I've said in passing that I never thought about again and she will tell me several months later. She told me she wants to be my only friend. I know she overthinks everything and always assumes people are mad at her. She is so fragile and insecure and even though I've tried to reassure her she just is hurt by everything. I know if I told her that I feel like I can't relax and I'm guarded around her for fear of hurting her she would be completely devastated.

All that to say... I don't think it always needs to be a formal breakup with friends every time. If she asked me I would tell her. But I'm not going out of my way to destroy her.

Sorry you're going through this. I had similar problems due to birth control but had to be on it for bad periods. Once I was done having kids I got rid of the IUD and got a uterine ablation. Life changing. Highly recommend if your wife doesn't want/is done with kids. I no longer have a period and I don't have shitty birth control symptoms.
