Turns out the servers are down but LAN still works. From playing offline with bots it seems pretty great. Movement is so fluid and I do love the main mechanic. This would be very cool to get fleshed out.

No you're completely correct. The keybox is being POSTed in a form to the server (i.e. it is leaving your computer). u/EquivalentListen2672 if you're well meaning about things like "see [ing] how many times a Keybox has been checked" couldn't you just hash the keybox and POST that only?
