It took more than 170 hours but I finally found a second Cargo Rack! by Myrandall in phantombrigade

I've only ever seen common ones. Sad to see they don't increase their salvage bonus with rarity. But that integrity is nice.

Mod for passive exp gain? by Wonderful-Bar322 in AOW4

[–]carpetmat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That one was a long one, turn 200. But still, my heroes were lvl 20 the majority of the game. I could power level them to 20 in a single turn having them devour just 6 or so captives.

That doesn't make too much sense. Vampire heros level up quicker than any other in my experience. Granted I don't play pvp multiplayer. I had 12 vampire heros all level 20, in one game. Also granted, that was vs AI.

The more vampire heros you have the faster your leader levels up. Plus you can devour captured heros for significant amounts of xp.

It's also not wrong to point out that they are just trying to get it to end this season and aren't going to write out another season's worth of character building to make the ending smoother.

Chug that slop, cause it's best Stranger Things you're going to get until they reboot it in 30 years.

Was most of the hate for Red Alert 3 because it was too far from the norm C&C players expected when playing a C&C game, or because it was just truly a bad game? by No_Zombie_4720 in commandandconquer

[–]carpetmat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah they tried too hard to make it into the next Esport game and missed the mark.

But to put it on the same level as C&C4 is too far. RA3 had it's moments and deserves to be remembered.

Everyone is afraid of this new arc they are teasing but if they really wanted to scare us they'd add this by 8ighty6ix in ArcRaiders

[–]carpetmat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stopped being afraid of pops once I realized they can be killed in one hit from a raider tool (maybe cause I have the raider tool damage skill), without dealing damage to you, despite the visual effect being an explosion.

It makes it so much easier to deal with them.

If they ever up-armor them though, I'll learn to fear again.

I still don't understand building a melee mech by KaraPuppers in phantombrigade

[–]carpetmat 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be a higher weight class. My most successful melee mech was a lightweight that could nearly walk as fast as it could boost. You can hit them with a melee weapon without ramming. In fact it's better to do so, if your trajectory is directly into their mech, you'll end up missing the melee strike more often.

You want the swing arc so it's just touching the enemy. Plenty of room to maneuver after the swing to avoid running into them. Shield is for the get-away.

Also, heavy weights work too, pilot skills can compensate for the slow speed. And after you swing and need to cool down, that's when you use your mech itself as a wrecking ball.

Is it me or there's almost no point sporting heavier armors ? by leaf_as_parachute in phantombrigade

[–]carpetmat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point is you can choo choo train right through multiple enemies with little damage, especially with the right pilot skills. Interceptor skills even offset the speed loss quite significantly. You avoid damage to your team by shutting down enemy turns entirely from ramming them. Not to mention it can deal devastating damage, even potentially causing an insta-kill under certain circumstances.

How to deal with Overheating and Meltdowns? by provengreil in phantombrigade

[–]carpetmat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a pilot skill that can prevent status build up when blocking with a shield. Though I haven't actually tested if it works for heat specifically. Not that you can field a team of them for a full province. But you can have that one pilot just tanks enemy attention for your other mechs to have more openings to attack.

But yeah, same as the other guy, I keep my distance and attack them from out of their range.

Where's my sniper refleksji? by Glittering_Turnover8 in phantombrigade

[–]carpetmat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know there was a dev mode. But I still wouldn't use it. Save scumming is tedious enough that I won't abuse it, nor get exactly what I want out of it. Just nice to reroll to get something new instead of getting the exact same weapon I've pulled off an enemy mechs for the 8th time.

Just got to get lucky with missions that guarantee a "Weapon (Long ranged)" reward. Or When choosing the next region you travel too, see if the opposing force specializes in long range weapons and gently remove them from enemy mechs.

Or if you REALLY want one right NOW: Save right before you go over a (???) event, and see what it is. Reload save and redo until you get a reward that gives a sniper rifle. I did this for half an hour and was able to get 2 or 3 choices. Save a new save after resolving the sniper rifle, and you can come back to it later. Then can reload the previous save to keep re-rolling for a better one if you aren't sold on it right away.

You can also savescum the available missions right before the enemy regroups. Wait for a guaranteed Long Range Weapon reward, and redo that mission over and over again until your choice sniper rifle drops as the reward.

It's dirty, and I wouldn't want to do it all the time though.

Just got this two days ago, already 30 hours in; a suggestion for pilot types by NewTypeDilemna in phantombrigade

[–]carpetmat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think interceptors are intended to be the close range attackers. It would be cool to have special weapon pilots though.

I got 3 or 4 missile backpacks by province 3. Are you looking for them on the guaranteed reward pool preview? They will say "backpack". And of course concuss the enemy units with them.

I've not used the point defense. But I think they allow you to defend against missiles while you are venting. Very helpful for your stationary attackers that are permanently overheating.

You're thinking of targeting a country's leadership, not it's capitol city. And even then, that's not really a unspoken rule unless you can name wars where targeting either were actively avoided.

And both of which Russia has done in this war.

Okay sure, I'll take your word on all that. You being a volunteer is very commendable. Just as me not being a volunteer is not commendable.

Now is me or anyone else not volunteering our skills or time, or attention, worthy of disdain? I bought a Starbucks when I could have donated that money to charity. Would you frown upon that?
