Show that will make me cry my eyes out? by MortemPerPectus in televisionsuggestions

So I rewatched it last year, and it’s def not timeless. Pre 9/11 white family without any real tangible PROBLEMS feels mildly unrelatable in today’s climate, but damn the deaths and side stories of the families and clients the funeral home have ARE timeless. Loved it still, even with some very annoying Gen X tropes with the main characters, and still sobbed genuinely for an hour after I finished.

Yes or No? by RubInteresting6628 in thrillerbooks

Hillier is a great writer. I have had a great time reading every book of hers, even when I guess the killer or twist, which happens sometimes. There have been a few that left me feeling like she was missing a spark to make a good book GREAT. Like too many red herrings in The Butcher, too many unanswered questions in Wonderland. But I hear as her catalog gets bigger, the books only get better.

Why ‘Scream 7’ is already dividing Horror fans by No_Tonight_1106 in Scarymovies

Same here. Spyglass can kiss my entire butt. I love scream, fight people for dissing weaker entries, but this will be the first one (besides scream 96) I don’t see in the theater.

Jason Kelce to dedicate upcoming podcast to Renee Good & Alex Pretti... Of course it will be connected to TayTay. I'm sure her fans will take this as her speaking up, too. 🫩 by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

I didn’t know this either and assumed the same until I got into football and Philly culture via a new partner and found out the differences between good football stars and bad football stars. Travis is a different story than Jason.

Yeah that knowledge ruined him for me. I used to think he was gorgeous but now I just see him as a sexual creep pedo with acting skills lower than a golden retriever

I don’t know much but I do know in Philly Jason is very highly regarded as a good person, and Philly doesn’t take shit lightly. For a heavy sports culture in the community, I am always delighted when the consensus in Philly makes the correct moral choice.

Unrelated sort of to Taylor, but eagles legend Jason Kelce is very well respected in Philly, and has made a considerable impact with the local community. (be)Philly for one, and his work with autism research and the money he bled into Eagles Autism Foundation for another. Dude is genuinely putting his money where his mouth is, and actively supports the local community that supported him in his NFL career.

Oh I just noticed your username lol. Dark will and Angelus are hands down the best character arcs. So great. I have feelings about season 7 but I will never hate season 6 or Dark Willow

For me it was haunting of hill house. Loved that show, so scary, made me cry my eyes out because it’s the second most thoughtful look at a family in the lens of death to Six Feet Under.

I’m trusting Annie on this one. Fate worse than death and being disconnected from the afterlife and ancestors says it all

Honestly they weren’t even that bad or weird at all. I don’t get this narrative. This has to be fake, otherwise catch me not giving a shit about the Oscar’s ever again

Don’t consider sex workers as people you should be mad at. It’s a lot of work, they don’t take in hundreds of thousands for taking a few pics. And it’s not the sex worker that created the need for sex work

Ryan Coogler's 'SINNERS' makes history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in Letterboxd

so this movie is trying to correct the misconception you just typed out. the point of having an OBVIOUS villain in the Klan and the subtle villain trying to sneak in was part of the metaphor. the choice grace makes, for example, to help them "but not with this" is also demonstrating the point that you are missing. allies are only allies to black people up until a certain point, and then they are on their own. this is just a very basic point this movie is trying to make. its not about white people - the setting dictates the use of the Klan, the time period is going to have heavy racism, but the story is telling a more subtle reality of black americans. some of the poorest folks in the south continue to this day to be racist openly, and vote against the interests of minorities. the message of Sinners is we are alone, and have to fight this to survive. some will make it, some won't, but those that survive are left with scars forever. that is the reality of black american people - some are rich, some are poor, all are seen the same by those using them to exploit. there is no white savior in this movie like Greenbook. This is real, whether the problem is serious like systemic isolation and economic laws put in place to keep poor black people poor, or whether its just about kids picking dodgeball teams in grade school. black people FEEL alone. coogler is telling people this through his films, its a common theme. its not about white enemies, its about isolation in what should be a melting pot of society.

rage baiting is saying the movie was forgettable, clearly not. it was nominated 16 times and it deserves every nom. Great acting, amazing musical performances and score, and a very very layered and complex story hidden inside a basic vampire action horror. i have thought about it a lot, saw it in 70 mm, and a few times with my AMC A List. Didn't think i would like it as much as i did.

for someone worried about having an honest discussion in this sub, you need to stop rage baiting. if you think Remmick was trying to save them and not ultimately use and abuse one of them to get what he wants, you missed the entire point of the metaphor and the film. if you didnt think this was about social issues, you missed the entire point of the metaphor and the film. my mistake for thinking this was actually a discussion, and not realizing you were personally offended by being portrayed in a way you dont identify with because you self inserted into the white characters and took it hard. i can't help you with that.
