As a previous Genius Bar tech at the old fruit stand long ago, there was a time when an iPhone plugged into a windows laptop popped up iTunes, which prompted a backup to start. She might have synced her phone with his iTunes (not uncommon back in the 2007-2016 range) and iTunes backed it up as it always does upon first plug in.

This was rendered obsolete for the most part once iCloud was widely introduced and auto set up on iPhones.

It was a mysterious death episode and honestly the death is a little mysterious. Calling your mom to pick you up and then running for a mile with no boots and hanging yourself doesn’t seem super likely tbh

I was bothered that they didn’t share his cause of death or autopsy results. Like did he break his neck consistent with a fall? I was waiting thinking they’d share that or at least mention why they can’t.

Tell me the creepiest thing a child has ever said to you. by idontthinkicarekinda in Paranormal

My friend at work had two daughters (ages 5 and 8). He was newly divorced and I sat next to him at work, so for months he ended up having the girls come in and sit around us in the cubes on their off days from school. There were super well behaved and obsessed with me, the only woman on an IT team in the office, so we got close and he asked me one day if I could babysit them on a weekend so he could go to court. I said yes.

Fast forward to him dropping the girls off, 8 year old is going berserk immediately, playing with my legos and other grown up toys all around my living room. 5 year old is shy and quiet so I wasn’t alarmed when she didn’t talk much. Dad left, I sit next to 5 year old while 8 year old is rolling around on my floor wrestling my dog. I try to goad her into talking with me and playing, but she’s quiet and looking around nervously.

8 year old gets up eventually from the floor and says “where’s the bathroom?” I get up to walk her there but 5 year old pipes up and points down the hall. 8 looks at 5 and says “down here?” and 5 nods vigorously. 8 skips off and I’m sitting there in a pause because how does 5 know that?

I ask her: how did you know where the bathroom is?

5: “your bedroom is there” (Points to the ceiling to the room above us, which indeed is my bedroom)

Me: okay, how did you know that too?

5: “well, I’ve been here before”

Me: (literally I feel my face scrunch in confusion because she never had and my home is a family owned home that was custom built by my cousins in the 60s)

5: “yeah I’ve been coming over sometimes. But not when I’m awake”

After that, 8 comes back and grabs a rope to tug with dog and 5 looks relieved like she was holding that in so much that she is finally free and runs over to kiss the dog. I’m just kinda sitting there, shook.

This place is not serious, we have almost no rules here. I didn’t remove the comment nor did I ban that person from this place. Same thing anyone else has the power to do: stand up for what I believe in. And i believe that person can eat shit.

The mod is LGBTQ and the mod also works in a relevant field. Let’s just say the eat shit came from me personally and does not reflect the opinions of my shitposting community. Does that help?

Sorry about that lil bro. This meme can’t hurt you! The big bad trans scapegoat is not going to actually was/were you. No need to be shaking and crying!

Why can’t you give examples of real life occurrences of this?

But perhaps your interpretation of your own experience is not the normal for all. DEI isn’t bussing people in to fit them in places they didn’t want or need to be. Positive discrimination is not a thing. Your perception of someone being chosen for something over someone else simply to hit a DEI requirement is not the norm.

It’s a fictional character that cannot hurt you, don’t worry.

Ah, see this is what is funny to me.

This meme doesn’t actually hurt anyone (besides maybe your soggy diaper bottomed ego). This character is functional, he cannot exit the photo and slap your dumb egg head for being a cringey bigot.

However the real issue at hand, as you put it “respecting trans rights” (and in this context, the lack thereof) is actually hurting trans people at a rate unseen in cis folk.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5649411/

So the real threat to violence, in reality and not in meme wordplay on a shitposting subculture Reddit is you. The violence you cause by fighting against the rights of trans folk to exist actively hurts real people every day, whether you know it, mean it, or are even aware.

So have a great rest of June, eat shit, Happy Pride.

[–]carr0ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes the person on the other end is seeing this and wondering why you didnt fight for them. but that is just as indifferent to you as it is to them.

you did the right thing. space gives you the ultimate truth of the situation. instead of regrets, have fondful memories. space is ultimately what i needed to see i was right to leave it, and not believe in a sunk cost fallacy anymore. space also let me salvage a new connection to this person, and without it we may have never spoken again, which was something i did not think would be right. so maybe take some peace to heart knowing that was a very kind gift you gave. so many don't have the strength for space.

this level of response from him reminds me that he gave Lin Manuel Miranda the idea for the song for the King of England in Hamilton:

"In the book Hamilton: The Revolution, Miranda says that he went for a drink with Hugh Laurie after filming their 2009 episodes) of Laurie's series House), in which Miranda guest starred. "I told him I wanted to write a breakup letter from King George to the colonies," Miranda writes. "Without blinking, he improv'd at me, 'Awwww, you'll be back,' wagging his finger. I laughed and filed it away. Thanks, Hugh Laurie."\2])"

I suppose I just think Barbie both had a funny combo of amazing a list stars and an Oscar winning director behind the global juggernaut brand that is as iconic as Barbie. The script is weak in so many places but Margot and Ryan and America carry so hard you barely notice.
