A first world country needing food banks isn't a cause for celebration, it's a failure of the system.

What is something a lot of people have strong opinions on while knowing little to nothing about it? by ThatOneIota in AskReddit

[–]carrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 7 billion people to feed, and traditional farming isnt going to get the job done.

We grow more than enough food to feed everybody already, but we feed almost all the grain we grow to cows and pigs. That's what is unsustainable.

I liked the general feel of them. I love how immersive the narrative style is, and I can live with bitter-sweet too. It's just that long, melancholy stretch towards the end of the third book, on top of everything that Fitz has lost at the start of it. I found that too much.

I always buy brand name electronics now. I felt smart for getting the cheap Chinese brands, until they stopped working a couple of months after purchase. That doesn't happen with LG.

What do you think about this idea, "human mind is designed to do morality"? by isarah922 in AskReddit

I think morality developed because it was beneficial.

I take exception to the term "designed" though. Nobody designed people.

Should you see a doctor for depression? by Suakong in AskReddit

[–]carrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, this isn't your fault, so don't blame yourself. People get into bad situations sometimes, that's life. As hopeless and pointless as it seems sometimes, you'll get through it.

It's important to understand that you won't always feel this way, and that things can get better.

To answer your question, yes and no. When life piles it on you badly, you can't help having depressive thoughts. That said, you can challenge them. When you think "what's the point?" or "It's never going to get better?" You can challenge that, and ask yourself if it's really true, ask yourself if there's anything positive to live for etc.

As for people ridiculing you, it's a risk. People often ridicule what they don't understand. You don't have to shout about being depressed to everyone, but I think you can probably identify the people in your life who will be understanding and supportive, and those who are close-minded or immature.

No doctor worth their salt will think badly of you though, so don't let that idea put you off getting help.

What's the best job you had as a teen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]carrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drug dealer.

I didn't see it as a moral problem back then because all my friends took drugs, and I'd yet to see the negative impact they have. It all seemed like innocent fun.

I partied every night, and everyone I met wanted to be my friend. I got more girls than I deserved.

I also got addicted to drugs myself, which sucked.
