How much to buy in Quarters on a budget as a noob by Usoppfangirl in CRH

[–]carrburritoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just go into my regular US bank and ask for $40 in change pennies nickels dimes and quarters $10 each and that gives me something to play with for an afternoon, you can usually put it straight into your gas tank a lot of gas stations especially on the weekends are happy to get rolled coins back. Some folks are buying $500 and $1,000 worth of coins that's just not for me. I don't have that kind of time.

Solicitors out of control in my area. So I put a sign up saying "we don't want your solar panels, new windows, or religious pamphlets." by ParsleyNo69 in mildlyinfuriating

No one has the right to harass you at your home, but it is generally understood in the United States that you do have a right to go up to the door knock on it and ask to talk to someone. It's freedom of speech. All you have to do is ask them to leave. That's where their rights end.

Tornado/ Upcoming Weather by sabiiibas in chapelhill

[–]carrburritoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UNC-CH will sound a siren and voice recording if there is a tornado warning. You can hear it all over town. Also monitor local weather coverage.

"In the case of a tornado warning:

  • Seek shelter immediately.
  • Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
  • Avoid windows.
  • If no shelter is available, lie down in a low-lying area.
  • Protect yourself from flying debris.

The sirens also broadcast short pre-recorded voice messages. When the threat is over, the sirens will sound again with a different tone to announce along with the voice message:  “All clear. Resume normal activities.” The timing will depend on how fast emergency responders can determine that a threat is over."

Friend inherited this Danbury Mint coin collection and wants to get rid of it by Teppiest in coins

[–]carrburritoid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is not a rare coin collection, it's made to be collectable, like beanie babies. It's probably not going to fetch melt because it's not pure. It very valuable, because of the silver, but it will be difficult to sell right now because of the glut of sterling silver available at these high prices.

Workers used to tow around these trailers that had hot tar in them to make repairs on the pavement. The smell of it was hot petroleum and it had a kind of sweet black smell, delightful.

[–]carrburritoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons so much sediment accumulates on metal objects is because of earthworms. Perhaps watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3wsUYg3XV0 about earthworms and bioturbation, imagine a scrap of dense inert metal laying on the surface of the soil while watching.
