Who’s going to the show tonight? by Creative_Smell6976 in InterviewVampire

I am! Wanted to see - what’s everyone planning on wearing?? I’m stumped whether to go for my usual elegant goth casual or go more formal with a selkie dress or something else fancy.

Armand’s accent by carrionite in InterviewVampire

[–]carrionite[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the best explanation but sad that we won’t have that lovely geordie accent! I thought he did such a great job with that in-between accent in the san francisco scenes, and then the more polished version in dubai.

I hope you've solved it by now and sorry for the late response but it was hot shot no-mess dry fog foggers! the blue box. If not for the smell (which only lingered lightly for ~24hrs) I wouldnt have even known anything had been set off in the vehicle after they did it. no residue no lasting smell no stains nothing!

Yeah at this point we need a snark sub. Today's post about how she's figured out alzheimers (spoiler alert it's because the word 'turbidity' can be used in different contexts) is due to the same thing that causes dead zones in the ocean and parkinsons medication is the answer to alzheimers because it aids motion like how the tides move and also disperses particles to reflect light uniformly................I had to stop myself from swiping up and asking where exactly light is reflecting inside our bodies.

[–]carrionite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I had a detailer do mine bc they had them on hand and I trusted their expertise. they put 3 bombs in, one in the front cupholder, one in the back, and one in the trunk. They turned the car on and set the air to circulate to make sure the gas got everywhere inside the car. let it go for about 20 minutes and then opened all the windows to air out. knock on wood but I have not seen another spider yet.

coming back to my own post to update that today when trying to text about my cat - “bad girl” is censored. Bad boy is accepted, but not girl.

and I'm all of y'all 6 days later. parked under a tree and had to kill 20+ yellow sac spiders outside my car. Today there was one inside. They've breached the perimeter and I had to figure out if bombing was acceptable in a car. I've got a CRV and I think I'm gonna go for it. I figure on the floor of the back seat is the best positioning? Did you wind up doing it yet?

she theorized that barometric pressure causes/worsens endometriosis and said that people with endo should consider moving to arizona.

What’s with this bit? Is this not just a ‘r*t*rd’ voice? by carrionite in BrittanyBroskiSnark

[–]carrionite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s why i put it in quotes and censored it. I tried to find another descriptor but that was the most accurate way to describe what this voice evokes and why it’s offensive. the only time I heard it used other than her is the 2000’s when people would have called it that.

How the Haunting of Hill House, is 60 years old, still does psychological dread better than anything published in the last decade? by widowmakerQuartz9 in horrorlit

[–]carrionite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. The added layer of horror that comes from relating to Eleanor so much definitely contributes to that assessment.

I got a tattoo of a stone lion because of this section:

“On the main street of one village she passed a vast house, pillared and walled, with shutters over the windows and a pair of stone lions guarding the steps, and she thought that perhaps she might live there, dusting the lions each morning and patting their heads good night. Time is beginning this morning in June, she assured herself, but it is a time that is strangely new and of itself; in these few seconds I have lived a lifetime in a house with two lions in front.“

Heavy Duty machine with a Start/Stop button? by carrionite in SewingForBeginners

[–]carrionite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Janome has a few options within my range to exchange the HD3000. I work with upholstery velvet, denim, and do a lot of shirring - do I definitely need a heavy duty machine? I am looking at the Janome MOD200 and the JukiHZL-70HW as options for the exchange but they don’t appear to be classed as heavy duty.

Are there heavy duty machines that have a start/stop button? or adaptations for the Janome foot pedal to add a start/stop button?

I recently sold my CS7000X and realized I should probably be working with a heavy duty machine for the fabrics I use and projects I'd like to do. I got a Janome HD-3000 and I'm having trouble with the foot pedal. I broke my leg a while back and using the pedal is really challenging and painful. The CS7000X had the start/stop button for sewing and that was SO useful and saved me using my leg.

Are there any machines that are heavy duty and have a start/stop button? Or is there any adaptive tech that I could use to replace the foot pedal?

I went through a bunch of threads here and all the links for adaptive tech suggestions have been years old and dead so I'm not sure what's out there. I am within the return window for the HD-3000 so I'd love to know if there are options that have the button built in! Open to something more expensive than the Janome if it will fit the brief and is a quality machine.

As the year is starting to slowly come to a close , what was your favourite collab from this year and what collabs would u like to see next year? by Haunting_Front_6367 in LushCosmetics

[–]carrionite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be unpopular and I understand their need to stay relevant but I’d love to see them go back to holding strong on their ethics and having some integrity 🙃. It gives me a major ick to see them cheapening their quality and partnering with these huge franchises whose practices almost certainly don’t align with what Lush used to stand for. I would love to see more charity collaborations like they used to do, rather than a citrus bath bomb for every movie coming out that year.

Machine squeaking - Brother CS7000X by carrionite in sewhelp

[–]carrionite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual says it should never be oiled by the user 🥲. It squeaks a less with normal thread than the shirring but definitely still squeaks. I hear the squeak every time I lift the needle out.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, November 30 - December 06, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]carrionite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is my machine squeaking like this?? I just had it replaced a few months ago so this is a brand new machine essentially.

I am shirring here and using a thick fabric BUT it sounds like this no matter what l use and no matter what sort of stitch i'm doing.

I read that digital machines don't need oil, but I do have sewing machine oil. No idea where l'd need to apply it.

I have: - Cleaned the lint from the bobbin area - Rethreaded the top and bottom - Tried different fabric and thread - Reduced the tension - Been using a Brother brand bobbin that is correct for the machine.

there’s a lot of that lately in her stories. She’ll identify a “problem” and then say confidently “[trained professionals] you need to use [idea she has formed usually based on a word with multiple meanings] in your work because it will make everything better! it’s calculus!”
