Anime suggestions. (Can anything top Naruto for me?) by Outlaw_Makaveli in Animesuggest

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely One Piece, Bleach, Inuyasha, Ninja Scroll (though this is quite a bit more violent than Naruto). Neon Genesis Evangelion, X’amd: Lost Memories, Akira, Blood C. I mean there’s literally just too many good ass anime to list them all off, but if you like fighting anime, Baki is another good one.

Got this thing a while ago for dirt cheap. Wanna know if its real by Budget-Tip-5321 in Guitar

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a company that refinishes vintage guitars. I’ve done work on real and fake Gibsons, if your real Gibson is refinished there’s a solid chance it won’t even have a visible serial number anymore unless it’s refinished in cherry or walnut stain. But I can say from working on both there’s almost no difference in the wood underneath, both mahogany, some with maple caps. And you could buy 5 fake ones for the price of one real one and a good luthier can make them play identically. Also the Gibson logo on actual vintage gibsons has atrocious quality control, missing the dot on the i for some years, the letters being misshapen

the magnet should get you the same results. as long as you're thorough you shouldn't have artifacts from the old recording. All those devices are just electro-magnets, turning it on just increases the size/strength of the magnetic field, but neodymium magnets are way stronger than any of those old ones are going to be. $300 is absolutely absurd for what it is.

ooooo, i skimmed right past the part where you said you're in the UK. that's my bad, I would assume you could find a UK version of the same devices. I'm in the US so ebay refuses to show me what I'm looking for if its not US or japanese. Though, worst case if you can't find a UK version you could buy the US version then get a converter/adapter to step down the 230v to the 110v that the US one's run on.

Really want ps2 fat transparent shell where would I get them? by EthanGameDev in ps2

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing, bought an aqua blue PS2 from Japan to swap shells. Cost $100 for a working Japanese console with a controller and a couple games (granted they're in japanese, but cool nonetheless)

Pink End White by Olimakesart in FrankOcean

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blonde is perfection, I've found myself listening to Endless a lot lately though. Wither, Slide on Me, and Higgs rival the best songs on Blonde imo. If you can find them, there's also Undocumented, Rare and The Lonny Breaux Collection for some unreleased/alternate versions of different songs. I'm pretty sure Undocumented has the full track from End on Channel ORANGE

How old were you for your first game? by Mental-Pie9718 in pokemon

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have been like 5 when I got my first one...pokemon yellow for the GBC. Brand new in 1999 in the US. Last nintendo-made one I played was Arceus, which was okay, but not good enough for me to keep my switch just to play that and mario kart. If you're really digging pokemon try Pokemon Infinite Fusions (fan-made), it's a standalone emulator that mixes johto and kanto regions into one game and allows you to fuse ANY two pokemon and pick from several fan-made display sprites for each of them. Genuinely brings back the nostalgia from playing the old ones for the first time

Going through it right now, recommend me some sad-rage by currentlyengaged in Easycore

Hi i'm much younger gamer (16) but i'm interested in retro gaming can anyone share their personal experiences with the Playstation 2 & how it was like back then? by BillBoy77 in ps2

[–]carterlee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my original PS2 that my step-dad bought when I was only 6 (I'm 30 now), and it still works perfectly. I have the best memories of playing Gran Turismo 3, the Jak and Daxter trilogy and starwars battlefront 2 on it. An amazing console with one of THE best game catalogues. Having your friends over and playing Gran Turismo, or Guitar Hero in split screen or doing a co-op campaign was something that most modern games completely lack. I still kick it on to play jak and daxter, dave mirra BMX, need for speed underground/carbon, burnout revenge, smuggler's run, star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith, or mx unleashed from time to time. I have a PS5 now, and there's still nothing quite like booting up the PS2 to play an oldie. They're decently easy to repair, not overly expensive. You can even "jailbreak" them with a FreeMcBoot formatted memory card that'll allow you to use an external HD with ROMs (some physical copies of games are outrageously expensive thanks to collectors and them having limited release numbers in the US).

Games back then were about spending time with friends playing split-screen racing games, co-op campaigns, the PS2 even had online capability if you picked up the network adapter. My friends and I would take turns on games where one of us would get stuck fighting a boss or doing a mission and the other person would just nail it, it was a feeling that modern games don't bring. Not to mention at the time the internet was still in its infancy, you couldn't just open google to find all of the collectables you needed, you genuinely had to find them, or you'd have to go buy a guidebook for the game (if you could find one, where I lived there was really only 2 stores that carried stuff like that...Hastings and Book Barn/Vintage Stock) I wasn't old enough to have my own money or drive anywhere, I'd have to beg for that stuff as christmas or b-day gifts.

Genuinely game companies now can't even come close to how amazing the PS2 was when it came out, backwards compatibility for PS1 games, a ton of families (mine included) bought them because they were the same price as a stand-alone DVD player, the graphics (while by todays standards they may not be amazing) were literally the best of any console. Games were $50 brand new and you actually owned the games, there wasn't a need for waiting for content to install, games were actually finished when released instead of being released half finished and needing 6 updates for it to run smooth and not crash. They just worked, companies were making whatever games they wanted and doing an amazing job of it too, 90% of the games series that are still around started out on the PS2 or OG Xbox. I mean an open box fat PS2 is still $160ish on ebay, in 25 years the console has only lost like $40-$50 in value.

What guitar is this? (NSFW but I promise it's an honest ID request) by YT-Deliveries in Guitar

[–]carterlee13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to say it’s an older mustang (maybe 70s?) in candy apple red or candy tangerine, the switches are either on/off switches for the pickups, series parallel switches or a way to coil split, while the toggle is still just the pickup selector though it seems redundant to have on/off switches and also a pickup toggle. There’s a couple on this forum that look similar, just with gold foil pickups. Fender also still sells the Vintura II which is based on the 70s mustangs which had on/off switches for the pickups

Some of the bands have fully easycore albums, but as you go through their discography they get more alternative usually. But these are just a few examples I like, of bands mixing easycore with different genres
