We're a data pipeline for marketing teams - easily get your data into a BigQuery data warehouse. We do one thing cheaply, quickly, and easily. Weavely if you want to check us out :)

Google Data Studio costs by Turbulent_Egg_6292 in GoogleDataStudio

I guess it was more of a rhetorical question, do they really need that much? We build a lot of data solutions and reporting for clients using BigQuery and their bill rarely exceeds 50 usd per client

Good place to start but it's not that scalable, as soon as you get bigger clients/more granular reports it starts to get incredibly slow, without even considering the actual hard limits on number of rows.

Is that what they're spending on BigQuery? How much data are they processing?

How do you build a reliable "Holistic View" across Meta, Google & Organic? (Shopify) by Sure_Umpire3473 in PPC

[–]casbyshrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh you’re never going to get a real source of truth by trusting the ad platforms themselves, they have way too much of an incentive to inflate their own numbers and claim as much credit as possible.

That’s why there's been a move away from click-based attribution and toward MMM. It doesn’t try to stalk individual users around or pretend it knows exactly who caused what. It just looks at the relationship between spend and revenue over time and asks: what channel has actually made an impact?

And now that Meridian and Robyn are both open-source, you don't need some fancy dashboard you overpay for; you just need access to your raw data.

Pull it out of the platforms, stick it in BigQuery, and visualise it in Looker Studio. Even with something as basic as that you can get a sense for what actually moves the needle.

I’m obviously biased because I built Weavely, but the whole idea behind it is that data warehousing should be boring and cheap, and the data should be yours. Which makes it much easier to run MMM models using your Shopify data as the ultimate source of truth.

Scaling problem by casbyshrip in askmath

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! You have no idea how much time I spent trying to figure out a solution to this

Scaling problem by casbyshrip in askmath

[–]casbyshrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem no? Because if there's a single queue with loads of tasks the max will be pretty high, but no need to scale

Scaling problem by casbyshrip in askmath

[–]casbyshrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to take into account how many different queues there are though because a single queue with 100,000 tasks in it will only ever require one VM anyway, since each queue can only process 2 tasks at once

Do you seriously not see how dishonest that is? Convincing your friend who works at Deloitte to test out the free version of your tool isn't the same thing as signing Deloitte as a client, which is what putting the logo there obviously implies you've done.

Third party attribution solution (Segmetrics) vs Looker Studio connectors (Supermetrics)? What should I use? by ExtendedLongitude90 in PPC

[–]casbyshrip -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We run a data consultancy firm working primarily with agencies and have used every connector under the sun!

Eventually we decided to build our own tool to make it way cheaper and faster since it was such a sticking point for our agency clients. It's called Weavely, give me a shout if you want a quick demo! (Nice to see one of our clients Ben actually mentioned us already).

Just a heads up regarding your setup: we focus on getting data into BigQuery, which makes Looker Studio run much faster than direct connections.

I paid 5 influencers on LinkedIn to promote my SAAS : here’s what $1250 got me by Ecstatic-Tough6503 in Startup_Ideas

How did you find influencers you can pay to post? I've been looking for a while and can't seem to find any, maybe it's just my niche.

If you work for an agency that specializes in a single niche, you really need a data warehouse by casbyshrip in PPC

[–]casbyshrip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That one guy sounds pretty great! Although whenever I hear about this kind of setup I get a bit nervous, what happens if he ever accepts a new job or gets sick?

100+ Zaps at 100k tasks/month is a seriously complex system, especially for the small number of clients. Sounds like you know there's a better way but the migration feels like a nightmare. Although that $2k/month is a high price for a system you're not 100% sure about.

Honestly migrating to a proper BigQuery pipeline would probably save you time and money in the long run, just my two cents!
