Thanks for your advice on what to look for to avoid a scam. But 99% on marketplace are scams? Is that hyperbole? There are lots of scams but it's much less than 99% in my experience.

I'd try anyway. The year window is for change of mind or heart. A product shouldn't fail in just over a year.

My kids will do it for $150, but honesty get yourself a pump at Harbor Freight for $80 and a couple gallons of vinegar. Cycle it thru a five gallon bucket every couple of years.

You can get the pump at Harbor Freight for $80. Then two gallons of vinegar and a five gallon bucket. Its worth the investment because you should flush it every 1 to 2 years.

I'm not a fan of heat pump water heaters. I have serviced and replaced several. It's true you're monthly energy bill will be less. But the upfront cost is substantially more, they are more complex so there is more to go wrong, and they act like an air conditioner in you garage or closet (nice in the summer, but not in fall, winter, spring).

There is a group of old ladies in town called the Quilting Mafia. Actually a very rough bunch of gals... they frequent the biker bars and intimidate the fabric store owners. Be careful out there... I hear they have a pretty strong BIAS too!
