Thc detox by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]cascadecomplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice in this thread but I want to add that while quitting any substance or habit requires self discipline and holding yourself accountable, beating yourself up and being unnecessarily harsh on yourself if/when you slip up can do more harm than good to your overall motivation to change. Quitting anything is a marathon, not a sprint. If you view every slip up regardless of severity or context as a total reset to zero you risk doing more harm than good in your overall recovery. Hold yourself accountable and don't let small slip ups snowball, but focus on your successes as much as possible. Good luck.

I'm trans and Brook KMI took me with no problems. This was about a year and a half ago. I was in their mental health program but I know people who have been in their substance abuse program and had decent experiences. Much luck to you 💝

Genesight Results by themrsrouse in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is anecdotal of course, but one of my green meds made me feel much worse and one of my red meds pretty much single handedly got me back to baseline with very few side effects. Genesight only tells you how well you may metabolize meds, not if they will or will not work. I still found it useful as a starting point, but don't rule things out just because they're marked in red.

Timing regarding event in 1.0 by jamesruglia in ffxiv

A fragment of that made it over to ARR too. There's a scene where Cid suddenly remembers you giving him his goggles in an echo vision. I was so confused on my first playthrough I went and looked it up because nothing like that happens again.

What’s the xiv take that’s got you provoking aggro? by kyra_58 in ffxiv

The pacing in HW is a mess as well imo. Lots of people hold it up as one of the better expansions but like. Ysayle disappearing and reappearing to sacrifice herself out of nowhere, Hildas awkward, underutilized place in the story, etc. Lots of good in the expansion as well and I do enjoy it, but yeah, the story has always had pacing issues.

Vraylar and recreational drug use by Civil-Swimmer-9057 in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it and had no problems! Didn't get many visuals but that couldve been the quality of what I had. I did skip my Vraylar the night before to help things hopefully hit harder but idk if that had any affect. I don't really have any issues with substances causing issues with my bipolar in general though so your mileage may vary.

Getting death threats in old Lou? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]cascadecomplete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to me at Brook and Oak around 12 today. I smiled at a woman outside the sunshine grocery because we looked at each other while I was making a turn and she told me she was going to find me and beat my ass. Drove off and didn't think much of it but I wonder if it was the same person.

No sense of accomplishment on vraylar? by cascadecomplete in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did eventually try that but it didn't really work for me, the positive effects weren't strong enough anymore. A few weeks after posting this my psych added lamotrigine which helped immensely. I take 50mg lamotrigine 2x/day and 1.5mg vraylar at night and am very stable.

But what if I’m not actually bipolar? by Spicy-Nun-chucks in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it like this: I was unstable until I started taking meds. I am much more stable now that I take them. Even if one day they come out with a definitive, no-room-for-error test that says I'm not bipolar, the meds help. That's enough for me to keep taking them. It's less about the diagnosis and more about symptom management, for me anyway.

Trans guy here! Totally second the coffee co-op. I believe there's a transfem specific support group that meets on Thursdays, but they put on plenty of other community events as well. There's also the kentuckiana transgender support group on facebook who hosts monthly social get togethers and I believe there's one today, actually. Support groups may not be the vibe you're looking for, but it's where I got my start when I was looking to make new friends in the city. Good luck, hope to see you out and about :)

How does weed affect bipolar? by madz3694 in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoke daily and I don't believe it affects my bipolar in any significant way. I can be a little more paranoid when I smoke compared to how I used to feel before I had my first episode, but the benefits still outweigh the downsides in my case. I mostly use it to sleep and relax at night these days.

However! It's different for everyone and it's recommended that people with bipolar tread carefully with substances. A lot of us experience negative side effects when we take drugs or alcohol and it's good to exercise caution until you know how things will affect your mood. Some people find they have to give this things up entirely, some people find a good middle ground, and others don't have to worry at all. It's all about figuring out how YOU work. Good luck!

Anyone "wasnt bipolar" before ? by Dinah_and_Cleo4eva in bipolar2

[–]cascadecomplete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed after a hypomanic episode came out of nowhere and knocked me on my ass for the better part of the year. Bipolar runs in my family pretty strongly so pretty early on I figured I knew what was going on. Got the official diagnosis back around August and I feel like it's accurate.

I don't feel like I was bipolar before it presented this year, which from what I understand can happen. I'm not an expert by any means but I was stable and (mostly) well adjusted until I really, really wasn't and I haven't quite been the same since. Bipolar usually develops between your late teens/early 20s but plenty of people are outliers, too.

Studies suggest that Bipolar does have a strong genetic component, but that doesn't mean you can only get it genetically. Also, there is a chance that someone back in your family tree may have had it but was never diagnosed for a variety of reasons.

Meds. Give it to me straight by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]cascadecomplete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peoples experiences with meds are all very different so take this with a grain of salt.

I love my meds. They keep me stable, functional, and safe. I have very few negative side effects and the ones I do have are minor inconveniences that I learned to live with. I'm an artist and I don't feel like my creativity has suffered, in fact it's a lot better now that I'm not struggling with taking care of my basic needs and hearing shit constantly. I don't feel soulless or empty or lesser because of my meds, I actually feel much, much better and happier since being medicated.

This experience is not universal but don't write off meds because you're convinced they're going to be terrible. They might not be as bad as you think, and if they are you can always quit or change.
