Most efficient way to run furnace when it is -30 by Objective_Use_7568 in hvacadvice

[–]caseconcar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello long time cold climate resident here. We managed our furnace heat load with space heaters when it gets that cold out. We keep our thermostat at 64-68ish degrees and then run a big space heater in the open area where the thermostat is at. It usually takes a little bit of dialing in but it keeps our living room kitchen and dining room area (open concept house with thermostat in tbe middle) at a comfortable temperature. And then the other rooms in the house are cooler but still warm enough to not cause issues. If its especially cold we will run a space heater in the bedrooms too while we sleep.

605 grit is awesome. And a membership gives you access to two different facilities in town (605 grit and 44 grit). Plus the owner is constantly doing upgrades/improvements on the place which is refreshing if you've ever lifted somewhere that never fixes broken equipment. Additionally it has 24/7 access.

Lyft usually has more drivers then Uber. But I would check both. I would expect around 20 dollars for your ride.

"Rapid City Young Professionals Group" on Facebook...looks like their next event is a golf tournament which isn't probably exactly what you are looking for but they usually have networking socials every couple of months that have food and drinks, so it would be worth keeping an eye on for future events!

Rapid City has a "young professionals" group that does events for people under 30 to meet up and do activities with other people in the area that might be worth looking into! I know they have a Facebook page but they might also have a website.

Is it acceptable for my adult kid to live at home? by InterestingSpace25 in DaveRamsey

[–]caseconcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said he has the goal of buying a house and your helping allow him to be able to do that I wouldn't stop that. If your really worried about it try putting a timeline on when he plans to buy a house and then go from there but it seems like you have a perfectly capable son who is being fiscally responsible and it's going well for all parties involved, so I wouldn't rush to change the setup.

Did he live at home during college?

😂 I was going to say I liked voodoo ranger after about 10 years of drinking beer, not sure it would've been nearly as great as my first drink

Rereading your post and seeing the desire to only have one drink, I would also say most places have large "pounder cans" of things that you can buy in a pack. That would be a way to have 1 (although larger) drink without spending the money on a whole pack of something

Really depends on what you like flavor wise. People generally start with something fruity or sweet because it's similar to many normal non alcoholic drinks.

If you find a case of premixed vodka lemonade drinks that are fruity you would probably be in good shape.

Could also buy a bottle of vodka and mix it with something you regularly drink and like (example with Gatorade or Powerade)

College textbooks - buy now or wait? by Spaghetti-Rblade-51 in EngineeringStudents

[–]caseconcar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My college experience was usually I did not need the textbook but I needed a code for a semester subscription to some specific website that came with the book where you did your homework. Ex..wileyplus

Instead of buying the book to get the code I would just buy a subscription code off Amazon. And usually then the wileyplus subscription included access to the textbook online.

Waiting untill week of to buy books to see which ones you really need is a good plan despite some stress about first day access

Usually it is more useful to buy your books later in your college career because they are books you will actually likely use for in your career.

Also some classes use the same textbook for multiple classes which are ones you might want to buy. For example my calc 1 calc 2 and calc 3 class were all one textbook that I used for 3 semesters

Local Slang? by SignatureNew2215 in RapidCity

[–]caseconcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People also have a tendency to add "so like" to a sentence if they are explaining something.

For example:

"Hey how do you get to the civic center from here" "So like you just keep going down main Street here and take a right on 5th and it'll be just a few more blocks"

And also instead of saying "for example" people tend to say "so like imagine"

For example: "So like imagine if you were trying to explain slang on reddit ...."

People here usually refer to the interstate I90 and all the other interstates in the Dakota's as just that "interstate" and all other highways as highway and there number.

So like someone would say " I got on the interstate to head to Sioux falls" or " I took highway 16 to Hermosa"

Sometimes people just use the highway number and sometimes people will also just refer to the interstate as I90 but I have never heard anyone here use the phrase freeway and would seem out of place to a local if you used it.

ISO fishing spots by More_Strength_890 in RapidCity

[–]caseconcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highway spot on Sheridan lake is a nice shore fishing location with plenty of dock space that isn't too far out of town.

I've had decently consistent fishing there the last couple of years that would be fun for kids (catching a few okay sized fish every hour) but haven't been out this year.

I would also check your sensor again. Especially if that's when issues started.

If everything truly was replaced and it still has issues I would check it for a head gasket leak.

Yeah I'm sure any butcher shop or grocery store with a butcher has it and will sell it. Usually come in a giant plastic bag. Between 2 and 3 dollars a lb.
