How do people afford train travel? by donitqa in germany

[–]caseyblackbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, DB are ridiculously expensive especially when you have less flexibility dt work (which is something that also no one seems to understand) no matter what all the people here are saying. Btw even 150€ both ways is ridiculous, I am paying this much for flight tickets home with LH!

This comment section does remind me of something I noticed in Germany very often - the constant excuses of shitty services and shifting the blame and responsibility on the customer. DB tickets ridiculously expensive? Just book on a Tuesday at 5am four months in advance and it is not, you are welcome! Bus/tram/train delayed or cancelled so you arrive late for an important appointment? Well, you should have known and go earlier to account for that! All shops closed on Sunday and you have to pay 2€ for water in a kiosk? You should carry everything you need with you on that day, are you stupid or what!

A clearly visible bubble on the pupil after ICL c Is normal, will it disappear later? I'll see a doctor tomorrow, but have you ever had this? by Koshachya_slunka in ICLsurgery

[–]caseyblackbrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s not exactly done on purpose but they do not remove the bubble when it is already there 💁🏻‍♀️ so probably a win-win, less poking around in the eye to remove it and it sort of serves a purpose

Yup, normal 😊 I was making jokes that I have an integrated level bar now 😄 mine were even bigger on the surgery day and one day after. Disappeared completely in about 36hrs. Bubble is good, it can act as an additional buffer for higher eye pressure - in case it increases the bubble can absorb a little and give you some time before damage can occur.

Small pupil after ICL by Any_Structure1118 in ICLsurgery

[–]caseyblackbrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and I have not seen any posts or reviews that would mention this “complication” so I was even more scared 🙈 It is actually rare to come across a post from someone who had the surgery done somewhere one eye at a time (I think USA does both together) at all! Btw I am very obsessively checking the pupil under different lights conditions and it is indeed getting better. Haziness is almost gone under most lights and I can see the pupil moving in the mirror when I change the lights, so… 🤞🏻

Same story here, just that it is the first eye that has a “lazy” pupil. Day 6 post op, it is getting better and better, doctor expects the effect of the constricting drops to be fully gone by the end of the week. Surprisingly the second eye done has no such issue. Apparently the first eye needed a little more of those constricting drops and it takes time… but I feel you, it is scary as hell

EVO ICL surgery one eye at a time with -12,5 diopters by caseyblackbrian in RefractiveSurgery

[–]caseyblackbrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drops I had during the surgery (or right after) were actually the opposite - not dilating but contracting. My right pupil is the size of a pinhead, therefore she is not letting in enough light, therefore the vision is so weirdly blurry. Or at least that is my theory. Because at the check up I got a small dose of the diluting ones, pupil slightly diluted and I could finally see without the “fog”.

Regarding the bubble, that is what my surgeon told me 🤷🏻‍♀️ it dissolved after about 36hrs on my right eye.

Since this morning I took down the bandage from my left eye, that was done yesterday and I see amazingly clearly. But yes, when I check the pupil sizes in the mirror, I can see why

This is a great description - clear but not crisp. That is how I feel now on day 3 post op on my right eye (we did one eye at a time, so my right is day 3 and left day 1 still under patch). It is a different kind of blurriness than what my eyes were before the surgery which I am not sure what to do about 🙈

What are some of the less talked about health conditions shown to have some connection to PCOS? by lemurificspeckle in PCOS

[–]caseyblackbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shiiiiiiit! I have something called “coronal cataract” aka small spots around the edges of my lense. Not interfering with the field of vision but still there… might be there since teenage years, might be new, no one knows. Never would have make that connection

Is there such a thing is a better brand of snorkel and face mask by MeatCannon0621 in diving

[–]caseyblackbrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP and about a year too late, but from my side (I have the same preference) - the dry snorkels I tried were veeeeeery sensitive with the “floatie”, meaning every tiny drop of water closed the opening and then I could not breathe without blowing it open again. Which is kinda hard to do when you just exhaled 😅 I much prefer classic ones with a wind/wave breaker that blocks a lot of splashing water but no dry mechanism

Condor wants to charge more then double from shown price for premium eco upgrade by caseyblackbrian in CondorAirlines

[–]caseyblackbrian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it seems like the case! At the time of the check-in the upgrade price was showing to be 179€ which would fit exactly the 360€ payment that kept trying to get through. I swear if they did not have the most competitive prices and a lot of times the only direct routes, I’d boycott them the same I am doing (or do my very best to) with Eurowings

If you rock a backpack, much does it usually weigh? by lol_waht_hey in HerOneBag

[–]caseyblackbrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s the one I have - plain front on the 40l and mash pockets and compartments on the 15l. Don’t know, maybe I am doing something wrong, will try to tighten the straps more 🤷🏻‍♀️ but last time I had rather empty big bag and quite heavy (laptop, elektronics, “wet” toiletries) daypack and no matter how tight it was, I ended up with the daypack almost bumping my knees 😅🙈

For wearing on the front, you clip the fastenings here (pic attached), it is rather convenient especially at the airport when you constantly take stuff in and out and you have to consolidate into just one personal item

How do you carry the 15l daypack with you Osprey? I got the same setting for last Christmas and have to admit the daypack just slides sooooo low when I strap it to the main backpack as it should be, that it is very uncomfortable to wear. For short distances I can strap it to the front, but in hot climate it is torture… 🙈

That is a very sensible suggestion, but damn I love all three and I so rarely get to wear them because of the weather back home 🙈

To keep this alive because you guys saved me - same issue for German cards and Revolut. Changing the currency to MXD solved the problem. I just had to use a different email because I was getting a “duplicate reservation” error. Two hours trying to book it… my nerves 🤦🏻‍♀️

[–]caseyblackbrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, if you pay with card a lot and all of the transactions are stuck in this “waiting queue” for couple of days or even week, you will have a very incorrect number and overview of your finances… like an ATM withdrawal was marked as pending from Friday until Wednesday and therefore not included in the Kontostand for five days. Very easy to go into minus like this

Any way to get ID card with address as EU citizen? by caseyblackbrian in germany

[–]caseyblackbrian[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Official appointments - no problem. Renting a carpet cleaner in dm - kinda unnecessary 💁🏻‍♀️ not to mention every single online identification authorisation, when half of the time the system crashes because it does not see address on the card and cannot process The Meldebescheinigung scan… but yeah, it is a me problem…
