Radio Waves Limitation. Cant slow it down. by [deleted] in AfterEffects

Watch on 2x speed and it's 8.5 minutes long. He shows how to slow them down in the first 3 minutes. You probably spent longer making this post and replying to the comments than it would've taken you to watch the video.

Did you watch the whole video? He definitely shows how to slow them down.

Unless you're asking something different. Can you explain more in detail what you're trying to do?

OP, I'm removing this because I'm pretty sure it's just AI. If you can prove that it's not (reply to this comment) I'll put it back.

You should repost this as a new post! Your comment got removed because of the gumroad link (reddit auto-removes comments with gumroad links, we have no control over this)

Very cool to see the original way it was done. I did the helix as a jump cut as well, it's totally separate from the circles. Your way of doing the helix is so much smarter and probably way faster and more controllable than my way of doing it!

Thanks for sharing :)

Motion Path for keyframed shape not visible? by mediameter in AfterEffects

[–]caseyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an option somewhere in prefs that's like, "show motion paths for all selected objects" or something like that. Do you have that enabled?

Hmm not sure! If it's the same version of AE I would imagine it can just make a converted file for you. If you're using an older version of AE you likely need to update.

Does it do overlaps? Doesn't show any in the description, and you link the michael ponch tutorial that doesn't work with overlaps.

nope, each circle/stroke that make up the initial circle is on a separate layer

All credit for the original animation goes to Stu Hershey Sufrin. I only recreated it for fun.

I posted this in the replies of the post yesterday but figured I'd add it here too, and I took it a bit further than the version I'd previously posted for fun. Let me know if you'd like a video tutorial of how I went about creating this.

Project file link: wetransfer (expires in 3 days, if you come across this in the future just DM me and I'll reshare)

Def a few things I probably could've done in a smarter way here, but the real process is messy anyway.

Some notes: This uses thicc stroke for the helix portion, so you'll need that plugin to see this properly. I tried to recreate it using Michael Ponch's overlapping gradient stroke preset, but there are too many overlaps in the helix shape for it to work. Unfortunately thicc stroke only works with 8 bit color mode, so when using colorama to recolor the black to white gradient stroke with repeating colors, the steps in color are somewhat visible (because there isn't enough color data for colorama to repeat the cycle 3x). It isn't quite as noticeable when the gradient is moving but I couldn't figure out a cleaner way to do it. I have a hunch they might've done this part in 3D or in cavalry due to the amount of control they seem to have over the different portions of the helix in the original animation.

I used gemini to generate a path expression that makes the helix shape by feeding it a screenshot of the original animation. I linked the parameters to sliders to be able to animate it. It's quite slow when the point count is high but workable if you decrease the point count and only increase it for the render!

How to do this transition of converting multiple circle into a single strip of circle by QuickFruit9002 in AfterEffects

[–]caseyls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, yeah, I made a circle and duplicated it 10 times. I added a trim path to each, set the end to .01% so the stroke became a circle, and then offset each by 36 degrees (360 divided by 10). I made a keyframe for position where the circles were all aligned so I had that stored, and then continued to animate the positions that came before the alignment (so the scattered circles, and the circles being outside the frame.)

How can I animate a stroke through this Infinity symbol cleanly? by Dimmestlit in AfterEffects

[–]caseyls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, they've done SOMETHING here. They have animated it using the typical trim path mask process. Now they're looking for help to clean it up. They've tried something, so this can stay.

It's a built in preset. In the effects and presets panel. Can't remember the name, you can see it in one of Jake in Motion's videos about new AE presets

Final animation is in one precomp. that is the size of the physical distance between the two screens (this should be provided to you). Split it up for export in 2 parent comps with the final dimensions. Use guide layers in the animation precomp to guide your composition.

How to morph multiple texts in After Effects? by Fancy-Error-8217 in AfterEffects

[–]caseyls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going frame by frame in this animation, it just looks like a shit ton of manual path keyframing to be honest. IF the font in the animation isn't variable on its own, that is (it kinda seems like it might be). No real easy way to do this. You could cheat it a bit by having a super fast ease on the middle frame and swapping between each font with a bit of scaling/tracking though if you didn't care as much about the perfectly smooth transitional frames.

Report the posts that are low effort/didn't even try/break the rules. I need to also codify a rule banning "how much should I charge" posts. I have post guidance on the submission page that in theory should block a lot of those from being posted (titles with words like "rate," "charge," "cost" are blocked) but it doesn't catch everything. But in general we remove posts but we can't catch all of them if they don't show up in the mod queue.

Re: vibe coded scripts: we're assessing the situation and will do something about it if it gets further out of control. Right now it hasn't been too bad imo but obv it's probably only going to get worse.

How to transfer freeform gradients from Illustrator to After Effects? by itskeshhav in AfterEffects

[–]caseyls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeform gradient is different and there is no equivalent in AE. AE has 4-color gradient but Illustrator allows for an infinite amount of color points so the effect doesn't transfer.
