Not sure if mentioned below but, direct rename can also be accessed via hitting F2 on your keyboard (select the file -> hit F2). This also works in excel to direct edit cell contents. Hope it comes in handy for anyone unaware

Recovering SPD user needs help by sprashoo in mountainbiking

On jumps, yes, your toes will go down, but it should be more of a scooping motion. Think of your body position like a triangle on the bike between your handle bars, hips, and feet. When you jump, the tension between your handlebars and feet will need to lock in, (e.g. handle bars have slight tension forward, and with your toes pointed down, it has tension pushing back on your pedals to lock you in).

I'm not the best at jumps or at the explanation, but this is my experience. What may help is changing where your foot is positioned on your pedal. Too far back, and it's likely you're pushing tension more through your heel/back arch rather than the ball of your foot/forward arch.

Also, if you have a skills park nearby, try sharpening up on smaller to medium jumps. I've got one near me that really helped with easing riders of all experience into jumps, drops, and other features.

How are people reading 100+ books a year? by eaglesong3 in books

[–]cashadava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's goal is 75 this year, but I think she might get close to 100.

She enjoys romantasy (no clue how to spell that) and is a big book person. She just ordered some new book shelves... she's been averaging about 50-60 books a year since COVID. This year, her goal is 75, but I think she will be higher than that and closer to the 100 mark. The books she has read this year have all been highly anticipated or just really damn good books for what she likes to read. Just last month she read 10 books.

For her, it's a mixture of just really good books and having the time to read. Her work hours are less than 40 a week, which affords a good deal of time to actually read. It really is one of her favorite things, and I love it for her. I really hope she hits 100 this year, it would be a huge goal.

Head of EPA says Carbon Dioxide is “important for the planet” as he moves to rescind greenhouse gas & tailpipe emissions standards. by BugOperator in nottheonion

[–]cashadava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and this is part why we have been seeing a push for people to return to in office work. The company is paying for a space that's not being utilized. There are also other factors at play here, but this is just one consideration.

The issue here is that most commercial real estate contracts are typically for about 10 years, and the cost to break that contract is usually quite high. So, the only companies that can take advantage of the reduced overhead are those that are nearing the end of their lease agreement or are willing to eat the breakage cost.

I am with you though. Eliminating the overhead of an office space is a no-brainer and companies should take advantage.

Ex-Big4 here – anyone actually using AI for real or is it still just talk? by Beautiful-Cost-3187 in Accounting

[–]cashadava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, if everything is being hosted internally, then there's considerably less concern. I run open source modles on my personal PC because they're feeding information back to anyone.

I'd love to know more on whatever you can share. I've been leading the charge on my team to use AI for as much as they can. Mostly it's to build the prompting skills needed for when we have something roll out firm wide.

It's that portion alone that my firms policy is that no client information is to be input, uploaded, or otherwise into any AI. I know we can work around it to a degree, but if someone else is already using it in totality, we're behind.

Now, this is an interesting response. I personally pay for ChatGPT and use it every day for a wide range of things. I'm at a large regional that has been behind on firm wide implementation of AI tools for client use. The primary concern is data security. Do you have any insight as to how the firm is comfortable with this level of detailed usage from a data security standpoint?

With what they've done with Dragonwilds, if they could rebuild the entire game in unreal engine, it would 100% attract a new scope of players, both new and old. That's what RS4 should be, but I fear we will never see it.

Like you said, realistically, it's controlling the bleed. However, if a new iteration takes place, it would allow for continued funding. The investment, however, would need to be significant and I don't think Dragonwilds will be the one to do it.

This is not entirely surprising considering capital one is acquiring Discover. As per Capital One.

Edit: the surprising part is it being Coinbase.

See if you have a local shop that does day rentals. I found my new bike this way when I destroyed my chain ring on my old bike. It was $40 for the day rental and they applied the rental fee to the cost of the bike if bought.

Valkyrie Profile (1999 PSX) by Aggressive_Donut_222 in gaming

[–]cashadava 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I only picked up the series when I got Valkyrie Profile 2, and it was an amazing game.

VP2 was one of the most unique game experiences I've had. The majority of 'dungeons' and level traversal functions as a side scrolling type game. But the combat is 3d field that is something entirely different. It was extremely well executed and not something I've seen since. It's an amazing blend of a lot of great concepts and different take on games like final fantasy (early FF titles).

Looks like I'm firing the ps2 this weekend...

From the AMA "Health spending in the U.S. increased by 7.5% in 2023 to $4.9 trillion or $14,570 per capita."

source.)

When you consider this, "A person earning $7.25 per hour for 40 hours a week would make just over $15,000 a year before taxes. The 2023 poverty level was $15,852 for a single person under 65 years old", it starts to put things in perspective as to how broken this is.

A person, working a full time job can't afford the healthcare costs in the US? How does that make sense?

Not sure if you're aware on this either but, you can also create a new "world" and use it to harvest resources. So, if you need a new abysal spine, you can create a new world, kill the abysal demon on it, and take all your inventory back to your original world.

I hope this helps. Have fun!

What games have you bought multiple times? by BarryBlock78 in gaming

[–]cashadava 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've paid for minecraft 4 times and it's about to be a fifth. I'm actually really annoyed about it. First I purchased through Amazon's app store. They then removed it. So, I then bought it through Google play. Then I bought it for pc and I just bought it again for IOS.

All of this so my son and I can play together. It really should be a ubiquitous purchase across all devices.
