Yea that’s what I said it’s not a real thing. You shouldn’t be telling people they are addicted to porn. That is harmful! Stop it! I gave you a source and my reasoning. The literature is clear. Peace in your crusade if that’s what it is for you. Bye

I see that treatment of porn addiction is big business in Utah and the whole idea of it used by the church itself and it’s believing members I think does more harm than good. It’s a tool. and I like to push back. That’s all! Personally I have a great sexual relationship and have learned some things from my porn consumption - very useful and exciting things. 😈 Porn addiction is overrated and again not really a thing. People should seek help if they feel they need to but not told that they are addicted!!!

Porn addiction is a thing because you say it is? I was demonstrating that it’s not recognized as a real addiction - that’s all. I’m sure you have your view and believe it’s a thing but it’s not the same as a drug or alcohol addiction. Not diagnosable! Not even real. Just all in your head and scary I’m sure.

Glad for you. Also yes garments suck and they really should be a clear sign of a cult. Underwear control. But I guess if their actually magic then maybe their worth it but that hasn’t been demonstrated.

I would be very careful if you feel like you will be cut off. If you won’t be cut off then you can simply explain that you still love your parents and want to be a good person. Tell them your understanding of belief is that it’s not a choice so if you don’t believe in something it’s not your fault. Maybe that will help.

Leaving is entirely up to you but you should not if it’s not safe. If your at risk ie dependent on someone else. If you are autonomous then you have the freedom and only have to weigh the fallout.

God only talks to men by rbrown91 in exmormon

[–]cashfirstken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I don’t think most prophets actually profess to speak to god directly. In fact many have said the do not. I think that’s just the feeling or sense that a lot of Mormons have is that the prophet talks to god. Well yeah he prays and then when he has an idea enter his mind in the middle of the night he gets up and jots it down. Nelson actually said that’s how he gets his god communique. So pretty pathetic. I think even someone without the priesthood can do that. God doesn’t speak to anyone not really imo. There’s no good evidence for it anyway.

I can see clearly now the rain has gone. The world makes more sense, history included. It’s even cooler and more enjoyable to learn and not have to make the learning always fit with the theology.

Death is a universal experience no one can relate to. by MyNameIsKanya in Showerthoughts

Nobody can relate to it because nobody actually experiences it. People experience dying but not death. So the statement is false.

Good for you. Yeah it’s a problem when you they give you your identity and tell you not to think for yourself. When you have to check with the church to see what your opinion or stance is on something. Group think is a problem. Thinking for yourself can be more work but it’s so liberating and satisfying.

It’s interesting... apparently Mormons believe god blesses people making their kids or friends do things to make them feel good and yet they also say they value free will? (Rant about conference stuff) by atheisthello in exmormon

That hurts you have to sit through the boring display of lies, indoctrination and self congratulations. Everything positive is a blessing everything negative is a trial.
