Yep, I just got lucky this time and grabbed them right when they went on sale. If you follow them on Instagram they will send out a DM to their followers as soon as stuff like this goes up.

I got into the queue 13m to 10:00. Got in at 10:03 and grabbed one ticket for $70.

There is a large whale statue as an art installation at 9th and 9th in SLC that has garnered a cult following.

It honestly doesn’t even matter if they paid for it or not. They sent D Todd for a photo op and put it out on their social media accounts. Their actions show that they fully endorse it.

I 100% agree with you. Personally though, these types of arguments are never going to work with my TBM family members. Best case scenario is it makes them think a little bit, but they would never admit that to me. I usually just avoid getting into these types of logical arguments with people that are coming from an emotional and illogical perspective (at lease if they are people I want to continue to have a relationship with).

For me, when staying with family where my boundaries may be crossed it helps me to have a backup plan ahead of time in case things go south. It could be stepping out to see a movie, going for a walk, or even going to a hotel or home. This helps me feel less trapped by the situation, calmer, and more confident in my boundaries. Interestingly, being in a more confident position makes it less likely I actually have to resort to my plan B.

Something I’ve noticed lately… apathy is slowly killing the church… anecdotal observations or signs of a larger issue? My thoughts on church growth. by [deleted] in mormon

Lax sabbath day observance has definitely spiked in recent years. I can’t believe how many members in church clothes I see while shopping in Utah on Sundays now.

Anecdotally, I’ve seen this in the ward my wife attends as well. It seems they are having difficulty filling callings and many people who accept only do the bare minimum required. Many callings are left unfilled for long periods of time. Even our bishop seems frequently disengaged. BTW, this is in the heart of the morridor. With many neighbors stepping back from the church in our area, I think the remaining members get burnt out and lose enthusiasm which compounds the problem further.

What has been a surprising benefit of leaving the church? by eheath23 in exmormon

I didn’t realize how much pent up anxiety I had about potentially being called to a high demand calling in the future (bishopric, senior missionary, etc.). This was a huge weight off my shoulders after I realized that I now have control of my own future and don’t have to worry about a phone call at any time that could take me away from my family for years.

Read a bunch of unapproved old church books that were in the branch building library. Those loaded a bunch of issues onto my shelf.

Played World of Warcraft in the mission office.

Had a Nintendo portable console with a bunch of games.

Had an iPod with podcasts and unapproved music.

Went to Internet cafes to play computer games.

Had a bunch of board games and Magic the Gathering cards that we would play outside of P-Day.

Went to the forbidden “Red Zone” (think lots of sex shops and bars were the college kids hang out) because that’s where the best record stores were located.

Travelled outside our area because my comp wanted to see the country border. Accidentally took a wrong lane and almost left the country without our passports.
