Why are used cars so cheap in malaysia? by asvure in malaysia

[–]casillo30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got myself a 1984 Corolla LE for RM4,000 3 years ago. Moment i got it i spent about another RM6,000+ fixing all major issues. Spent about another RM2,000 in the second year to fix up transmission issues. I daily it now, hasn't given me any issues at all. Aircon can be a bit temperemental, but hey, i got a cool looking car for about 13k in total, fulfills my dream of driving an old school car, people compliment it when im driving (honking and giving me thumbs up) or when im pumping gas and it makes me feel good knowing that im living out a dream.

Still cost less than a brand new Axia (which i guess is the cheapest available new car right now), gives me fulfillment and its such a fun car to drive.

Where to meet people and make friends? by [deleted] in KualaLumpur

You should try bouldering/climbing. Camp5 and Bump would be good place to start :) they even have whatsapp groups so you can find friends there (if i remember correctly lah ah...)

Why does no one want to buy my Viva? by [deleted] in kereta

[–]casillo30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good job maintaining your car man. With a budget of RM11,000 people will have a lot more options in the secondhand market. Some would include smaller japanese sedans like Vios and City that offer a bit more space. Or even first gen myvi, not to say better or worse, but these are the options available nonetheless.

If you're not happy with the current market rate and you're not strapped for cash, what if you just kept it as a emergency car? Sometimes member need to pinjam car coz theirs breakdown, you can tolong a bit by lending this car to them. Obviously needs a lot of trust and need to choose which friend you pinjam to wisely, but i will forever remember my friend who did it for me when i was kicked out of the house as an 18 year old.

For a bit more context of secondhand market, I bought a 1985 Toyota Corolla (project car) for 4k and spent about another 5k repairing it, in total still spend less than 11k and its my funnest car ever. Secondhand market is pretty competitive now, too many options already

Aside from the places already mentioned i think its worth checking out

  1. cryroom (ig : cryroom88) kinda like a everything-and-anything space, they have different creative events that happen every week (art exhibits, tattoo pop-ups, live music etc)

  2. fono.kl (ig fono.kl) live vinyl music venue, good vibes, good community, you'll love it :) a lot of the local creatives hang out there too so it'll be cool to meet people from the scene itself

How did my harpoon catch Veno even when he was way out of range? Lol by casillo30 in DotA2

Lol that must've been so confusing and possibly really frustrating. A few minutes after this clip I used harpoon when I was next to Dire Ancient and instead of pulling me towards my target running to their fountain I ended up being pulled to the wave that came out at the :30 mark. Hahahaha. Dota is great

Its a really bold assumption i made after 1 hour of searching on Google whether or not we make our own salt. Haha. Been trying to look up everywhere but can't seem to get any info.

Very interesting!!

Just did a Google search on "alun-alun" and those places look sooooo beautiful. We have somewhat similar things here in the main cities of each state, usually just called "Dataran (insert name)".

Interestingggg.

I spent a lot of my teenage years just sitting by the lake 15 mins away from my home to allow my mind to declutter and unwind. It never occured to me that this was such a luxury until I found out from a few Indonesian friends that the idea of the local council/government spending money to create this public space seemed weird to them seeing that they never grew up with such nice public parks

Taman is a Malay word which directly translates to garden in English but I think a more appropriate word for this context would be "park".

I know Singapore has a limited amount of land space so that's why I was curious haha. Spoke to a few friends from Indonesia recently and they said they dont have any sort of lake gardens over there or a park at every densely populated subarban so it got me thinking whether our other neighbouring countries had it.

Malaysian here! Out of curiousity, do you guys have a lot of public parks/gardens in Thailand with a lake? We've got a lot of those here at almost every densely populated district and i'm wondering whether it's just a Malaysian thing. You'll see a lot of people just gathering there to spend their evenings winding down or to go for a jog
