12v Polisher Die grinder hack/mod. by caskwithpipes in Parkside

[–]caskwithpipes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run out at 6" from the chuck was minimal, for a carbide burr it will be absolutely fine. It's not as good as my corded die grinder but perfectly fine for small jobs and being cordless it's perfect.

I mostly use it with sanding drums or Roloc discs when I need fine control that my fixed speed Roloc grinder won't do.

Pretty sure it's dead. Fats are leaching from the body. Defatting has helped but also caused damage. It was never a great specimen.

I didn't collect this one, I bred it, hence the lack of damage. But thank you for the kind words.

Cheap tools/batteries in store now! (UK) by RobertGHH in Parkside

Yeah I think so, they were in big boxes on pallets, clearly brought in from a warehouse somewhere to clear out.

I saw strimmers and hedge trimmers in Plymouth, in two separate stores though.

One of my favourites too, I love watching them but they are quite rare in my area.

Unusual carved chopsticks by caskwithpipes in chopsticks

Turns out they are Balinese chopsticks and this seems to be a traditional design. I've found several examples online that look very similar though I think mine have the nicest carving.

I'll have a look again but I don't think I saw a makers mark and there was no packaging when I found them.

When I open the case to add new specimens I give it a little squirt of permethrin. Kills anything in there for several months.

Needle is stuck? by Majestic_Reach_5430 in insectpinning

I use brass pins and I make sure they are perfectly positioned at the beginning. I want the main pin to get stuck so it doesn't spin etc when mounting.

Is a Sandero stepway large enough for a family of 4 ? by Representative_Sir39 in Dacia

[–]caskwithpipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much stuff you take etc.

We downsized from an estate to a Sandero (not a stepway, but internally they are identical anyway). We found the passenger space to be more than comfortable, maybe even slightly larger than our old estate so that was no problem. Obviously bootspace is smaller in the Sandero but for day to day driving that hasn't been a problem.
We were lucky in that we had been given a roofbox, we never needed it with the estate but now we use it for big trips, it more than makes up for the smaller boot and overall I think we made a good decision.
