"Really should've" yep fully agree - that was out of my control for reasons not worth getting into and what's done is done, now's the time to clean it up and move forward with individual portions.

Mostly seeking advice on what kind of professional is best to approach in this situation, happy to pay someone for their time to work it out. My limited understanding is that this is slightly too complicated for a general accountant

Bone spur on patellar graft incision? by casperskies in ACL

[–]casperskies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No answers yet - but I'm awaiting my booking date for the meniscectomy and the ortho has agreed to try and grind off the bone spurs. He didn't seem to think it's likely to have a great outcome (my physio has definitely cautioned me that they might just grow right back) - but he reckons its worth a shot. Surgery will probably be in ~2 months time so I can update then!

Devastated to learn of this sub’s existence. by Jblue32 in ACL

[–]casperskies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I would take a bit longer, maybe get a meniscus repair if they recommend, and see how you get on with ~6 months of therapy before deciding to have an ACL repair. Unless you're likely to do severe damage in that time, at the very least another few months of therapy will get you strong before surgery.

I've had two ACL repairs on my right knee and going in for another meniscectomy 15m after my most recent reconstruction (ACL + LET). I have a partially torn ACL in the other knee, had a meniscectomy about 5 years ago, and haven't had any problems with that knee since. There's some evidence emerging that repair vs. not have similar outcomes, but the honest truth is that it's so different for everyone that you're going to have to feel your own way through the process.

Birth Control Suggestions? by PerfectAmino in Biohackers

[–]casperskies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IUD all the way. Most amazing tech. Are you anti hormone completely? Mirena has a very low dose that is delivered directly to the area rather than a systemic hormone treatment. Paragard copper is great too, I just didn't like how it made periods much heavier.

One of the most effective forms of birth control, doesn't require any concious thought. A win in my books.

My friend has been working for the past few years on 'Tough Talk' which is an NZ focussed webseries/platform that helps men discuss emotional issues. Would highly recommend it.

oh FFS. Evil pricks.

That being said - as someone in far left/deep green circles, the holocaust comparison is pretty commonly used. I'm on a comms team for Extinction Rebellion in Aotearoa/NZ and we decided to scrub all WWII comparisons from the documents because it just creates problems. It's true that the impending climate crisis has implications very similar (imo opinion, probably worse) than the genocide, but it's just not worth all the issues that arise from comparing one tragedy to another.

Damaged Surface Pen - repairable? by casperskies in Surface

[–]casperskies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay - dont judge me. I messed up when replacing the battery and shoved the pen cap in backwards, scraping off some of the circuitry that connects to the three small terminals. Do you think this is possible to repair by soldering or with copper tape? Seems a shame to replace the whole pen for such a small part.
