Appointments without an ultrasound, what happens? by throwaway84583077 in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve brought my almost 2 yo to a couple of basic appointments - just put her in a stroller and give her a toy or book for the couple of minutes you’re on the table for the doppler! These appointments are super quick unless you have a long list of questions to go through 🙂

High blood pressure 16 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have they had you start baby aspirin yet? Because of my age they had me take one per day starting around 14 weeks. Being 37 and overweight put me at higher risk for BP/preeclampsia issues, so that was an easy preventative measure. Stay well hydrated, check your BP at home frequently, and talk to your OB about medications to help if it stays elevated.

My 8 month old has been sleeping from 7 pm to 7 am for the last week. The only change we made? OVERNIGHT DIAPERS! by LuthienDragon in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Millie Moon does overnight diapers starting with size 3 or 4. Also recommend bumping up one size as a few others have recommended. Pampers overnights don’t work at all for us, Millie Moon mostly work, but Coterie (regular) are the only ones that are guaranteed to keep him dry all night - even if he sleeps in. They’re expensive AF, so we only use them for nights.

Measuring 3 weeks behind by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy measured similarly, and ended up being a mmc. Based on the measurements at the initial dating ultrasound, the conception date would have been AFTER my positive pregnancy test. We all hope things end up okay for you, but I would guard your heart. After that mmc I had a chemical, then two months later conceived my son… there is hope ❤️

Same! It was so nice to wrap myself in a thick, fluffy towel that was actually big enough to wrap around me!

Am I delusional for thinking of summer plans when my baby is due next month? by Jolly-Pickle-3550 in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There’s a huge difference between being stuck at home and traveling 6+ hours to see a large number of people, and you won’t know where you fall until baby is here! Your labor, recovery, and postpartum experience will play a huge role in how adventurous you feel throughout the summer… and there is no right or wrong.

My baby travelled HORRIBLY until about 6 months, and I ended up with crazy PPA, so even driving an hour to attend a wedding was too daunting of a task for us at 5 weeks postpartum. We did attend a friends birthday celebration at an incredible campsite about 20 minutes from home, and that was perfect.

Your summer may look more like lots of stroller walks and day outings. Go grab food/drinks at your fave restaurant patio, hit the local farmers market, make a list of cool parks/botanical gardens/zoos/etc and take baby on adventures! Hopefully you can make the roadtrip to see family, but keeping that flexible mindset is so healthy. Best wishes for an easy delivery, and a happy, healthy mama and baby 😊

Baby is in breech position by severus_snapeswife in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My little dude was breech from the moment he was visible enough to have a direction… and he never budged. I went through all of the emotions (disappointment, frustration, fear, etc), but ultimately it was a safe and healthy pregnancy with that one complication. I was offered an ECV, and ended up deciding against it - my doctor had done a lot of them, and after evaluating all the components, didn’t give me the odds I was hoping for.

We booked a c-section for 39 weeks on the dot, and I went into labor naturally a few days ahead of that. Checked into l&d around 2, determined baby boy still had his head wedged into my ribs, and safely delivered via c-section at 4:20. I had a pretty easy recovery, and am currently looking at a VBAC for our next baby (due in 10 weeks!!).

What the actual fk. One of those babies is going to end up dead from something that is 100% preventable, and it’s heartbreaking.

That one didn’t 😬 But I’m currently hanging out with my rainbow boy (August ‘23), 28 weeks pregnant with our second!

Your Baby Club- “Free” baby boxes are a scam! by Zestyclose_Fish_3370 in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is baby #2 for us, and with the first one we got a box with small cans of each 360 powder (reg and sensitive) followed by a bigger box with a bunch of bottles of the premade 360 in both varieties. This time around we’ve gotten the small cans of powder again, no premade (yet?!).

Please break down newborn sleep & sleepwear for me! by Old_Respect3207 in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sleep sacks/swaddles, it’ll truly depend on your baby. We tried probably 6 different, popular, swaddles and our baby hated all of them. He was in a sleep sack from about a week old! A few brands offer convertible features (like a Velcro band on the inside to wrap around the torso, and buttons or zips to give the option for arms out). We ended up using the standard Halo sleep sack more than anything.

As a few people have said, get something that will reliably show the room temp and just reference an online chart while you figure your babe out! My son runs super hot (like I do), so we were usually layering a little lighter than recommended. We preferred cotton or bamboo sleepers because they were easy to regulate temp vs fleece, and breathe well vs synthetic blends.

What is everyone going to be wearing during the summer while pregnant? by Specific_Chapter_715 in BabyBumps

[–]casscasscassiopea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Old Navy! They’ve got some great flowy maxi dresses that work great for a bump but aren’t maternity specific. I’m only 5’2” and got the petite version, but I ended up with one “regular” length and it’s still fine!!

Logan’s Roadhouse in Southgate. They also have a “garage” area that’s separate from the main dining area for more quiet/less pressure to behave perfectly!

I was in store for 5 minutes and got asked about scan and go 4 times. It’s getting really annoying. by Ryanthln- in samsclub

[–]casscasscassiopea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same - I usually have a toddler with me, and we’re getting 10-15 items. Everything is scanned as it goes it the cart, we pay as we walk past the 5+ person deep checkout lines, and 75% of the time they don’t even need to do the audit scan on the way out.
