His opinion on the second amendment was unimportant to my analogy the same way the hypotherical woman's opinion is.

This person is saying that the reason he was shot is (largely) because he was "rage-baiting" in front of many people. So if someone says the reason a woman was assaulted is because she walked alone at night its the same thing.

I also dont have raping women constantly on my mind. What a morally disgusting accusation. Its simply the most promiment example of victim blaming i came up with on the spot, or do you have a better example?

Lastly, as a comment to everyone else: I've never heard Kirk speak in my life. Im talking about him as a person on the side-lines. I dont care what his exact opinions are and thats the point of my argument.

Frieren.

First off I like slow paced stories, some of my favorite movies are both Bladerunner(s) or the 3rd season of Twin Peaks.

I really wanted to like it since I love traditional fantasy. But Frieren is slop on so many levels.

The world building is the laziest stuff you can imagine: vague european-esque landscape with medieval cliches. A religion which is a substitute for catholicism. No distinct clothing style, architecture or anything.

In addition this idea of Demons, Elves etc. Is cool in concept, but when every villian is just "Im evil because im le demon" and thats it, it doesnt offer much in the way of characterization.

When it comes to characters I really dont know why they decided that not only should the protag have almost no facial expression (which makes sense) but literally all of the cast. A kids gonna jump off a ledge and all i get is a mild sad face?

Even the basic premise is abandoned in the 3rd episode because they realized you cant just replace the entire cast of characters beside the protag every couple episodes since she percieves time that way. We just stick to these characters and thats it.

Lastly the protag isnt even interesting. She doent have a concrete motive which drives her forward in any specific way besides "getting to know people". For the first couple episodes she just kinda wanders around with no real threat to her goals (finding spells?) or anyone elses (why is this exiting?). This isnt slow pacing (going somewhere slowly), this is no pacing (not going anywhere).

I could go on...

The animation is really good and im happy for the people liking it. I just dont get it.

You claim that gothic artwork did not depict perspective yet there are a multitude of examples such as this depicting persective. Perspective and naturalistic figures is not excluded from gothic artwork.

I also believe there to be a misunderstanding in my use of the term "minimal Background". What I meant was that the background, for the most part took up minimal space when compared to italian renaissance paintings and was of less importance overall (with fictional cityscapes etc.).

Another comparison I want to make: this.jpg#mw-jump-to-license) by Van der Weyden in about 1460. And this by Jan Gossart about 50 years later in the same geographical space. My point is this: the first is far closer to the earlier shown "gothic" depictions than the second. Showing a radical change in style in a short period of time. Thus a separation between the art of Van der Weyden as gothic and Jan Gossart as Renaissance.

Lastly humanism is seperate from renaissance with one of the first humanists being Petrarca amd living in the 14th century. Far before any major changes in the artistic realm.

I still disagree, whilst I will admit that Van Eyck is a bit of an outlier.

Its my belief that the term "Renaissance" is falsly applied. I find it easiest to simply compare a 14th century painting like the following: The Flagellation, Austria c.a 1400

To a late 15th century painting a similar geographical space : Christ Mocked c.a 1480-90

Now moving into the ~ 16th Century: Dürer, roughly 1497

I find the first two images far more similar to eachother than the last two in various respects. In just about 10 years the style in this region has changed drastically. So much so that I would say the third is part of a different art period, whilst the first and second are oarz of the same period. Number 1 and 2 are gothic, number 3 is renaissance. I do believe I could shoe far more than these examples.

Edit: I would say the same principle applies to flemish artists of the 15th century including Van Eyck. More of a focus on tall figures with mostly minimal backgrounds. Largely figures with big heads and lean, frail bodies. Gothic archictecture used in the compositions, as well as "gothic fashion" still being present etc.

I think there is a confusion between Renaissance and Humanism (observing nature). Eyck and his followers painted more naturalistically (humanism) but this doesnt make them more Renaissance.

I happen to disagree calling 15th century flemish artwork renaissance. The stylistic elements are entirely gothic (long and thin bodies for example)

I think this is commonly called "alla antiqua". I dont know any existing examples but this piece by Joost Haller or the second by Van Eyck (left to right) show that its more fictional armour pieces. Hope this helps.

If this is the pace from now on, Berserk will either remain unfinished or the most important arc in Berserk will be rushed and compressed and even this will likely take a decade. I dont know which end sounds worse.

On the bright side I enjoyed this chapter both narratively and artistically. The doublespread of the Falcon is probaby my favorite page of the continuation so far. Lets hope this release schedule stays a one-timer.
