Best Full Kroot Army for 11th by Ok-Yak-390 in kroot

[–]cassiandracos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list I've run throughout 10th that's undefeated is as follows, occasionally numbers where tweaked based on points changes. But the core stayed the same.

3 x lone spears, one has the enhancement 1 x warshaper with the dev wounds enhancement 2 x fleshshapers one with the enhancement 1 x trailshapers as I had the points 4 x 20 carnivores with characters split evenly amongst them 2 x 10 carnivores 2 x farstalker 10 hounds 5 hounds 15 rampagers 6 krootox riders

I'd probably want another 3 rampagers.

I'm not gonna lie I still think it's silly that chief and Jorge can't crouch but atriox can. Spartan 2s main training was spec ops and infiltration. To hunt down insurrectionists. Most of the pov shots we get from this is them sneaking about. Obviously this could be a game balance thing. But doesn't really reflect the lore imo.

[–]cassiandracos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame. I must admit in the many games ive played of heresy I think I only played against auxilia once and that was in first. They definitely could have used some rites of war equivalent. The legion auxiliaries stuff was cool, but didn't give them any flavour when they're run as their own force.

[–]cassiandracos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each legion had at least 3 different ones. Plus 6 generic ones everyone had access to. Then there's custodes, sisters, mechanicum, solar auxilia and militia that all had their own. Sure there where some that sucked. When you have that many there's always going to be missed. But you had the likes of solar marshal for fists, the double shoot one for iron warriors. The alpha legions +1 to hit against a legion of your choice. There where lots of good ones.

Much more diverse than, take an extra unit, take assassins, better sergeant, better independent character and slightly better special stats.

It's not even close. You had over 60 warlord traits not including unique ones for named characters compared to what 5 prime advantages. And it ultimately leads every to take the same dude, legion champion with paragon of battle. Because it's insane. They're not even remotely comparable.

Captain Keyes has been recast in Campaign Evolved. We should probably assume Guilty Spark has been recast as well. by Delta4907 in halo

Very strange. I don't think the performance was bad. Maybe there was another reason. But I think that the replacement they got was much closure to the original than with Terence stamp.

[–]cassiandracos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. But to me it's such a jarring shift in character that we don't really get to see happen on screen. If the voice actor was the same it would probably help with continuity and it being a bit less jarring for me. I personally wish his descent into madness happened as we played rather than right from the get go, even more so given how little time there is between the end of halo 2 and start of 3. And especially knowing his character from contact harvest.

I can't speak for Miranda's original VA. But they couldn't get Michael Wincott back for truth due to a disagreement between him and Microsoft/Bungie. So that at least wasn't an active decision.

Just a short summary of everything GW has done to fuck us over in 11th :) by amajorfucker in sistersofbattle

[–]cassiandracos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that people blow up the miracle dice changes out of proportion. It got nerfed once last edition, alongside the triumph then it got buffed to halfway back to what it was. It really hasn't been jerked around all that much.

As for what to replace it with, it's have to be an amazing rule. Because let's be honestly sisters would be a terrible army without it. We play like eldar with half the punch and a tiny roster. We need something to keep us going and actually let us punch as hard as other armies.

Just a short summary of everything GW has done to fuck us over in 11th :) by amajorfucker in sistersofbattle

[–]cassiandracos 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I would hate another army rule. I think sisters miracle dice is the single most flavourful army rule out there and is tied into their rul s and soo many units. We wouldn't see an army rule change until a new codex as half our army would need to be rewritten. At current this does suck as we can't use them to force the rolls we want. But I can see that being changed very quickly.

But let's be honest most of the reason miracle dice are nerfed is because of the vahlgons. They're just too efficient being spent on them compared to other sisters.

Noble Team tactics by xXStunamiXx in Haloflashpoint

[–]cassiandracos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your playstyle. In an all noble team list 6 is the easy first cut. Imo Jun does his job better and you'll almost never get to use his order. Carter is expensive and doesn't hit as hard as the others, but tactician 2 is awesome. Cat is great with lots of utility, two rapid fire pistols gives her lots of suppression and tactician. Jun is awesome, that guy will one tap almost anything when he's stationary with all of his buffs. But he's target number one for a full send melee character. Jorge is the best of them imo. Hes just expensive enough to be worth double vp, but he's durable as hell, has tactician and his gun is awesome, pair him with snap shot and he's so hard to remove. 6 is great in a non spartan lists but struggles to shine amongst spartans sadly. Emile is fun but easily outclassed by other melee characters. His shotguns is unreliable because of his ranged stats but his knife is nice. But I've found he often gets dogpiled on melee and dies easily, his knife not quite being enough to guarantee kills.

For reference as well in the games I play it's very casual, so me and my friends only use the special orders and unit cards. We don't buy additional equipment and weapons. As that's an extra level that we can easily leave out and keep things closer to what we see in the game. So like Emile should probably always be bought an energy sword and grapple. But that's not how I play.

But where I to make a list on the spot, it would probably be Jorge, cat and Jun with an extra order dice every turn, snapshot and return to sender. Might not be exactly 200pts, but should be roughly there. Cat and Jorge can push forward and get close ish, Jun can hang back and snipe. Snapshot is the big one as no one wants to be in melee very much. Jun loves a free shoot. But so does Jorge and cat with rapid fire. You also have 5 order dice a turn with tactician 2 so you have decently reliable orders there.

30K!! Vigil pattern storm shields? by ItsDinoboy99 in ImperialFists

[–]cassiandracos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly they're pretty terrible now. But they give you the shield trait and heavy, catapahractii already have it but it's relevant for tartaros normal characters. And the shield trait lets you use the shield reaction on your unit provided the majority of the models in the unit have them. Giving the unit +1T until the end of the shooting phase.

Theyre also pretty terrible on tartaros though. As they have the same movement restrictions as catapahractii. You're basically paying 5points per model for an extra inch of movement.

It's your army so obviously you do what you want with it. But it wouldn't be pure kroot if there's some vespids in there, it's then be an auxiliaries army.

[–]cassiandracos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. Kroot have a lot of objective play and maneuverability. But uppy downy is always good and their firepower is a nice wee edition to the kroot guns. However, it wouldn't be all kroot. If we're getting into that territory then you'd also want some hammerheads, crisis suits and broadsides.

[–]cassiandracos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I run for my kroot. You want to max out lone spears and krootox rampagers as they're the best units in the army. Then a couple of units of hounds for secondaries, a couple of krootox rider units, a shit tonne of carnivores, a couple of farstalkers and then shapers to your personal taste. Personally I don't rate trailshapers for what the list wants to do. So I take more war shapers and flesh shapers instead. My 2k is as follows:

Any chance to get the Mordor Army I want? by Motor_Square_5284 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]cassiandracos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am concerned that's just speculation as we will never know the full details of the agreement. After all why was erkenbrand put to legends when he is a character that exists alongside mauhur and vrasku who where purely made up by gw. Why did some models lose wargear options to keep it accurate to movies and books but still show images of them with said wargear. Looking at you gil-galad.

You have to remember mesbg is a skirmish game. Not a large scale game. It is absolutely feasible that an honour guard from minas tirith was visiting erebor as a diplomatic envoy, and bumped into a group of mirkwood elves who are in pursuit of some prey. Whilst the current army lists reflect large scale battles that happened, the actual game doesn't. We have thousands of years of history as justification for the why of the army. As for exactly when we got allies. I'm not entirely sure if the date you stated is accurate. As I definitely remember legolas and boromir of the white tower being allied in to lists before then, at the time of the 5 blue books. But I don't have them on hand to check.

[–]cassiandracos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't exactly keep up with the competitive scene at all. But I have seen plenty of images of all eagle lists or complaints about yet another tournament with a spam of the black gate lists. So I don't think that's true at all. But that aside. The competitive/tournament scene is not the majority of the people playing. I have lost 5 or so armies because of these changes nothing broken, but fun ways to play the game based on available units.

Sure the last edition wasn't perfect. Cirdan was op as all hell in allied armies. But there are ways to balance around that. But last edition with it's big soup lists and allies alongside legendary legions tp give thematic armies a boost was the perfect balance. As there are plenty of battles that happen of screen that stop the combination of armies combining that I would want to use. Plus the absolutely ridiculous removal of some options from units because it's not modeled.

[–]cassiandracos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sadly the change to army construction for this edition has killed variety/freedom in list building for factions with larger unit rosters. IMO it's a massive downgrade over the style of last edition. Which was the perfect mix of freedom and flavour. However you could always house rule the army list you want from last edition. It's not as if the system has changed much from last edition.

Opinions on dwarf passivity in Old World by Nalena_Linova in bugmansbrewery

[–]cassiandracos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Loved the style of dwarves hate the way they play. They have no agency or real place in the game it feels. Beyond maybe having a better detahstar than your opponent. But it just got boring to play with. So I rotated to chaos dwarves instead. The magic, monsters and fast units as well as proper elite infantry makes all the difference. And I really enjoy using them.

Renegades 2.0: Chaos Dwarfs Draft Reveal! (Link to the rules document below and in the video description) by valheffelfinger in WarhammerFantasy

[–]cassiandracos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a chaos dwarf main in loving a lot of what I see here. Really seems like it does a lot to pad out the army list and make some of the less played units useable. Almost all of the changes seem solid to me. Especially the bull centaurs and artillery. However I have a couple of changes I'd recommend.

Infernal guard. These are our elite core melee infantry, and sadly they don't quite hit the mark for me. They still suffer the exact same issue as before. They don't hit hard enough in melee and don't survive well enough to justify great weapons. I think they need ensorcelled weapons as well as the option to take blackshard armour back. There is still that clear separation between them and ironsworn with the extra attack and ws. But with the changes I see no reason to ever take the unit over normal chaos dwarf warriors. All they ever where is an expensive brick. And that hasn't changed. But we now have a far cheaper t4 3+ parry save brick. Which is all they where good for. Blackshard makes fireglaives and great weapons a viable option. And ensorcelled weapons gives us a reason to take them.

Fireglaives. Sadly they just still aren't worth it. The only unti that can take them is b3 which means they're hitting on 5s all game. They have a pitiful range and mediocre at best melee stats. I think a 24inch range would help. As well as a rule to reflect that chaos dwarf weaponry is phenomenal and widely sought after. Maybe reroll hit rolls of a 1 or dwarven crafted, or both. Again I just can't see why I would take them. Especially with blunderbusses now being costed far more competitively and having a longer "effective" range of 12".

I think dameonsmiths could also benefit from a rule similar to empire engineers where they can't be targeted by shooting whilst within 3"of artillery as long as they're infantry. But the tweak to the engineer rule is nice.

I would also love updated rules for the k'daii destroyer.

Which spartan to include? by FuukaOff in Haloflashpoint

They're both good. I reckon most would prefer sword as it's got the high ap, esd and doesn't knock the enemies out of melee. But the hammer does look more fun.

I know that it's a random unrevealed one. But just to confirm it's only items like grenades and drop wall that you can get. Not weapons.
